How To Become A Content Master On LinkedIn

How To Become A Content Master On LinkedIn | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

Lana Khavinson, Small Business Segment Marketing Lead at LinkedIn, says most people who come to LinkedIn already have a professional mindset, and they are looking for all kinds of content--from articles and blog posts to infographics and charts--that will help them with their current role or that will help them further their career.

So it’s important to consider what information you can provide that will help them with their current or future endeavors and will keep you at the top of their minds when they are at a point of need. This can include content like best practices, tips, trends, and industry thought leadership pieces.

But it's not enough to simply create great content. To get potential customers to notice you, you need to promote it the right way. Here are four insider tips to bring your content to the masses....

Just 3 Characteristics Separate Successful Entrepreneurs From the Failures

Just 3 Characteristics Separate Successful Entrepreneurs From the Failures | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it
A great idea doesn't mean a whole lot in the world of business with hard work, patience and open-mindedness.

....

Let me share a story with you that my friend and mentor Joe Polish, shared with me when I was first getting started out.

Joe started out in the carpet cleaning business and it was failing miserably. He was dead broke and living off his credit cards and then something happened that changed the course of his future. One of his friends from high school invited him on a boating trip where his dad, a multimillionaire real estate investor would be coming along. Joe thought he might be able to pick his friend’s dad’s brain. So he asked him, "What business would you suggest I go into where I could make a lot of money and turn my situation around?"

So the real estate investor responded and asked, "Are there people in your industry making money?"

Joe replied, “Yes” and the real estate investor responded by saying, “Then there is nothing wrong with your business. There is something wrong with you.”

After that conversation Joe buckled down and turned around his business, went on to make millions in the carpet cleaning industry and started one of the highest level masterminds in the world for direct marketers, called Genius Network. Read more: click image or title.

Startup Medium Raises $50M & Read Time App "Readism" May Be Why

Startup Medium Raises $50M & Read Time App "Readism" May Be Why | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

Medium's Read Time App and Scoop.it's Lean Content
This Curagami post shares KUDOS for Guillaume Decugis and the @scoopit team. Medium's making their read time app, somethg they call Readism, available across the web is sure to hasten every prediction Guilluame and company made about lean content marketing several years ago.

Medium's new "app" is a Chrome extension. If you are creating content and NOT using it  you're nuts. We decided to make two posts instead of one when we saw six minute read time on our lean content + tools riff.

We wanted to add a few tools to Scoop.it's Why Lean Content Is The Future of Content Marketingpost. We wanted to add:

  • Haiku Deck (like more than Slideshare)
  • Feedly Pro (so you have a site)

But their side did say "many more", so we will save our 1,000 word six minute read content curation tools post for tomorrow. In the meantime, if you're not using Medium's read time app Readism and you use content to market online you're nuts.

8 Ways Smart People Use Failure To Their Advantage - Forbes

8 Ways Smart People Use Failure To Their Advantage - Forbes | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

One of the biggest roadblocks to success is the fear of failure. Fear of failure is worse than failure itself because it condemns you to a life of unrealized potential.

A successful response to failure is all in your approach. In a study recently published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, researchers found that success in the face of failure comes from focusing on results (what you hope to achieve), rather than trying not to fail. While it’s tempting to try and avoid failure, people who do this fail far more often than those who optimistically focus on their goals.

This sounds rather easy and intuitive, but it’s very hard to do when the consequences of failure are severe. The researchers also found that positive feedback increased people’s chances of success because it fueled the same optimism you experience when focusing solely on your goals.

Building a Keyword-Driven Content-Marketing Strategy Is Key

Building a Keyword-Driven Content-Marketing Strategy Is Key | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

It’s a common misconception that SEO and content marketing are two mutually exclusive business strategies. They’re not. In a way, it used to be true -- keyword-stuffing once helped pages get ranked well, even if the content wasn’t valuable.

Now, that’s not the case. Search algorithms have succeeded at offering the valuable content that people are looking for -- which is the main goal of content marketing. That’s why it’s now possible, and even fairly simple, to build a keyword-driven content strategy

U.S. venture capital firms just gathered up the most money they’ve raised in a decade

U.S. venture capital firms just gathered up the most money they’ve raised in a decade | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

Many in Silicon Valley may be worrying more and more about how to transform their startup stakes into cold, hard cash. But that's not stopping institutionalinvestors from writing out some very big checks to venture capital firms.

Somewhat astonishingly, U.S. firms just closed on more capital commitments than they have since the second quarter of 2006, according to new data from the National Venture Capital Association and Thomson Reuters. In hard numbers, 57 U.S. firms raised $12 billion in the first quarter, a 59 percent jump in dollar commitments over the first quarter of 2015.

Institutional investors aren’t necessarily spreading the wealth, with the number of funds raised down 17 percent from this time last year.

Indeed, as you can see from this downloadable fund list, roughly half the new capital commitments in the first quarter were locked up by just four firms: Founders Fund, which announced a new $1.3 billion fund; Norwest Venture Partners, which closed on $1.2 billion; Accel Partners, which raised $2 billion across two funds; and Lightspeed Venture Partners, which sealed up two funds totaling $1.2 billion.

Close behind them,...  Read more: click image or title.

Why integrity matters in the startup ecosystem

Why integrity matters in the startup ecosystem | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it
What if we ran a poll. Since the next round of funding is not so readily available, what should hyper-funded Indian startups focus on? The list of responses will likely include operating profits, unit economics, product differentiation and customer habit. The hyper-funding of 2014 and 2015 ruined all of the above and it is time to go back to the basics. Yet, the Achilles heel for hyper-funded Indian startups might be something else. Something that we least suspect. The carcinogenic effects of hyper-funding have caused a cancer that could eat us hollow and not allow the body to recover to a healthy state. It’s the integrity cancer.

I like that the market is changing and developing new ways to outsource content creation to fit your personal needs. I think it is neat that they are trying to diversify the small market to fit the bigger need with more companies using social media marketing. Zapty is a new one with a very clean page, I like that most accounts are free and premium are just $2 a month. Bitrix24 was another cool one that was described as Facebook for businesses. Its new update allows people to add as many users to their free accounts which is nice for synchronization. Konsus is like a social media freelancing matchmaking site to find the right freelancer for your needs. They send the final price through quality control and you only get the invoice when you're happy with the work done. Overall this site has lots of great new tools that you can find to outsource your content this year.
