I totally agree with this article. I think that mobil phones are defiantly a huge part of todays marketing. I know for a fact that i am constantly looking at new apps to download and use. With the majority of people today using iPhones, its such a easy way to quickly check your bank account, or find out what time the bus comes by simply downloading a app to help you. I think its really important that brands look into developing apps for phones if they want to keep up with the changes in the social media.
Aleysha Kelly's comment, April 9, 2013 4:47 AM
I agree with both your points Nick and Charlotte. Mobile Marketing is definitely the new way to engage consumers especially with the rapid change in technology especially that of smart phones. Its definitely the most effective way to contact your target consumer as with the use of apps its up to the consumer to download it. I'm the same as you Charlotte, I am always looking for new apps to download and use so I think it is really important the business look into Mobile Marketing to keep up with the changing environments.

More And More People Connected To The Web For Longer Amounts of Time is a pretty great graphic and summary of our most Internet marketing future. This excellent article from trusted source Brian Solis implies the death of things such as:

* The static web (everything moves all the time now).

* The lecture web (all content is conversation now).

* The textual web (visuals, visuals and visuals rule).

* The one size fits all web (mobile, social and local now).

* The work web (web worming into all hours now).

The web's working its way into everything from our refrigerator telling us it is time for service to our Social, Local and Mobile dreams and desires is the ubiquitous web, the infinite waterfall web, the web whose presence is taken for granted and ever-present.

In a way we will know we've succeeded as Internet marketers when the word "Internet' is no longer part of our job description. When we return to being "marketers" again because Internet is understood we've safely arrived at our destination - The Next Web.

The Future of Mobility [Infographic]

The Future of Mobility [Infographic] | DV8 Digital Marketing Tips and Insight | Scoop.it

An astounding 80 percent of the world’s population now has a mobile phone—and 84 percent is unwilling to go a single day without their phone. About 45 percent of Americans say they can’t go more than a few hours without checking their phones. In 2012 there were five billion mobile phones in the world—1.8 billion of these were smart phones.

Facebook now reaches 76 percent of the smartphone market, and it accounts for 23 percent of total time spent using apps each month.

The next five most used applications are Google apps, and they account for 10 percent of app usage time. One of the latest smartphone trends is that things are getting less touchy but more sensitive. Gestures and other non-tap inputs are on the rise. Casting a sidelong glance, for example, can pause a video. Some apps are being developed that will switch from manual to voice to text to gesture, depending on what you are doing...

As smartphones are increasingly used, this infographic highlights in just what way we use our phones. 1 in 5 people check their phone every ten minutes... something tells me that the smartphone may be one of the biggest sources of modern distraction!

Here is my favorite section of this post:

The Smobile Web Social + mobile = "smobile." While there's no real insight in pointing out that both mobile and social are going to be big in 2013, I believe they're becoming co-dependent, and most businesses aren't ready for that.

A smobile Web means your customers, coworkers and colleagues expect their digital experiences will be optimized for mobile/social sharing and as a result spend less time tethered to a PC or television. The technology for this is evolving rapidly.

Social and mobile got a THING goin' on in 2013.

The eCommerce Guide to Social, Local & Mobile [Infographic]

The eCommerce Guide to Social, Local & Mobile [Infographic] | DV8 Digital Marketing Tips and Insight | Scoop.it

SoLoMo, short for “social-local-mobile,” is essentially the addition of local information to search engine results in order to capitalize on the increasing use of mobile devices.

SoLoMo has also evolved to include mobile-specific offers pushed out to consumers based on their current location. If you are among the growing population that now has smart phones, you have no doubt seen and even taken advantage of these kinds of offers.

In this infographic from Monetate, learn how SoLoMo is having an overall impact on traditional eCommerce, and how consumers are using their smartphones to access social and local sites which ultimately influence purchases. It also also touches on the showrooming effect, providing retailers a guide to making the most out of SoLoMo opportunities.
