Sony is predicating the future of Ultra-HD broadcasts on IT and IP networking, rather than the traditional broadcast engineering protocols, the latest of which is 6G-SDI.

More than half a million 4K×2K TVs are forecast to ship worldwide this year, growing to more than 7 million by 2016, according to the latest Quarterly TV Design and Features Report from NPD Display...

“Initially, we expect to see the highest 4K×2K adoption in China, Japan and Western Europe, as these regions typically prefer the latest highly-featured products,” noted Gray.

 

“On the other hand, North American consumers are generally more likely to delay purchases of new technology, like 4K×2K, until prices fall. However, because demand is heavily skewed towards large screens in this market, there is a significant opportunity.”

Now the TV industry is moving towards the next generation of high quality TV screen technology; Ultra High Definition Television (UHDTV).

UHDTV means television that is using any resolution that is above currently broadcast High Definition (HD) Television formats. Currently, the maximum transmitted HD resolution is 1920 pixels x1080 lines, so any resolution above that is considered UHDTV, although in practice, UHD refers to display resolutions of 3840x2160 or higher.

TVBEurope charted the development and maturation of high definition in European broadcasting with four HD Masters conferences from 2006 to 2009. Then, when it looked like 3D could be the new HD for television, TVBEurope ran two successful 3D Masters events in 2010 and 2011.

As 2012 comes to a close, it will also marks the end for the Canon 5D MKII.
Production of this camera will cease and be officially retired from the Canon EOS range. A revolution dslr video production and film was born and definitely a game changing camera.
