PBS has been investigating the topic of the nation’s dropout rate on their FRONTLINE series. The most viewed show, called “Dropout Nation”, focuses on one high school in Texas. They have been working on programs to help students and prevent dropouts. One particular teacher is heavily involved. We look at five different students through the course of the year. Each has a very different background and story. All are at risk. There is not one simple fix for this problem. We learn that despite out best efforts, many still will not graduate. How much money and time will be needed?
