People with sleep disorders also suffer from impaired functioning which make them preform worsen then they usually preform on work.

1. NREM - non rapid eye movement.

2. REM -  rapid eye movement.

The four stages are:

1.NREM stage 1: This is a stage between sleep and wakefulness.

2.NREM stage 2: In this stage, theta activity is observed and sleepers become gradually harder to awaken.

(3+4).NREM stage 3: Formerly divided into stages 3 and 4, this stage is called slow-wave sleep.

5.REM: The sleeper now enters rapid eye movement (REM) where most muscles are paralyzed.

This video talks about why we dream. The scientific study of dreaming is called Oneirology. For most of history it didn’t really exist, But then in 1952, researchers in the university of Chicago found a unique type of an electrical activity that occurs during a certain stage of a person’s sleeping.

They found out that  the biggest difference in the brain when we sleep being the production of chemicals inside the brain like; norepinephrine, serotonin, histamine is almost completely blocked it causes the muscles from moving, which is why you can dream about flying running around, or fighting ninjas but your body doesn’t move.  A popular theories about why we dream are variations on the idea that while we sleep the unconscious part of our brain is busy organizing memories and strengthening connections of the day before that we need in the future, while getting rid of the junk that will otherwise cloth the brain. Another theory is that dreams serve a .primary purpose and that purpose is to prepare us from threats

The need to sleep is one of the stronger biological urges we have.

the average person will spend 25 years on theire life asleep there is no scientific consensus as to why  we do it. there is a tiny not side region at the base of the brain that acts like a timer calld the super charismatic nucleus that releases awake hormones or sleepy hormones.a second treger for sleep is the ATP.

But why are we wired to sleep?
