Modular Buildings and the benefits over traditional building methods

Modular buildings are gaining in popularity for two simple reasons, those reasons are firstly speed of construction and secondly the cost when compared to traditional brick buildings. The installation is much much quicker due to all of the components used to construct the building have already been built off site at a factory. Quicker installation of the mobile building means less disruption to your daily operations. The time it takes to put a portable building into position and connect all the services can be measured in days and weeks rather them months and years

Trust Signals for SEO

Trust signals for search engine optimisation   In the last few years there has been a lot of talk about trust with regards to the search engines. Trust is a term used to encompass many factors that decide where a webpage will be placed within the search engine rankings. When you are ranking a page or website you want it to show up in the top position for the targeted phrase, but just how do you go about doing it without any search engine history. The word, trust comes to mind, you have to create trust from the search engines to allow you to gain high rankings within them. The main search engines use different algorithms to rank pages but here in the UK we are very Google centric with regard to search, so I will be focusing on Google.   On page trust factors The definition of trust:" assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something" so as we see trust is about truth and although we are not dealing with a person we are dealing with an algorithm. This algorithm looks for certain signs and signals to indicate that your website and its content is truly relevant for a search. Google's aim is to provide the most relevant content to a search engine user. To do this Google looks at many factors both on the page as well as off the page. Let's take a look at the on page factors that can enhance trust in the eyes of the search engines. The title of the webpage The title of any web page is an indicator of what's the webpage is about, so when you construct your title you should make sure it is relevant and closely linked to the page content. The meta description Many will say that there is no point in including the meta description as a ranking/trust factor. Although from what we know the meta description tag is no longer used as part of the ranking algorithm it does have its part to play. A descriptive well-written meta description can increase click through rates on the search engine results page. A good click through rate combined with a long time on site would be a signal to the search engines that the page in question is relevant to what the searcher was looking for. A short time on sites with a quick return to the search engine would be an indicator that the page was not what the search was looking for, over time this would impact your search engine placement, placing you lower down the search engine results page. Google constantly records data and I would assume that different queries would have a different average time on site (ATOS) so with all things being equal a page with a relatively short time on site when compared to other results as well as pages with a longer ATOS would be penalised and rewarded respectively The meta keyword tag The meta keyword tag is almost totally redundant for the main search engines I only include it as some of the lesser-known engines still take notice of this tag and of course we want to be all belt and braces with regard to our optimisation of a webpage. The copy on the page The copy, is another way of saying the actual words on the page. The way the copy is structured, the use of headings, images and video, are all indicators of what your page is about. The H1 heading the H1 heading is used to tell the reader what the overall page is about, much like the title of an essay within the H1 heading we use out main focus keywords but also remember to be descriptive. The H2 headings The H2 heading is used to break up the contents into manageable digestible sections allowing a user to scan the page looking for an area of interest. We need to make sure that the heading reflects the paragraph that follows it. Of course we may or may not include our keywords within this heading as long as it contributes to the understanding of the content. The H3 heading the H3 heading is used to break up sections and highlights particular points within that section. How to write your content for search engines and people. Google has gone on record in the past that the writing of content should be done for people only, without paying heed to the search engines. This is good advice if you are an expert in what you are writing about. For those that are not here are a few tips. Most subjects will have some sort of lexicon, a lexicon is a linguistic concept that says most languages is composed of two parts firstly it's lexicon which is the set of words within the language and secondly the grammar. We are only concerned with the language used within a certain subject. It's lexicon. Some example would be if your main subject was dogs. There are certain words and phrases you would expect to see within an article about dogs, so we are looking for wording related to dogs. Examples kennels dog training collar dog food bones doggie treats As you see these are not exactly your focus keywords but they are words you would expect to hear if you were to listen in on a conversation between two people having an in-depth conversation about dogs. A further expansion on the related words are synonyms these still come under the lexicon of the subjects but within natural language you would not overly repeat your chosen keyword you would substitute synonyms for example in the case of dogs, you may use; canine, man's best friend, pooch or any number of terms that are commonly known to represent a dog. There we have the basics of writing on page content. things we also need to consider are, how our users interact with the page once they are there. Do you have content on your websites that is related or expands on a certain point within your copy, if so that is an ideal opportunity to create an internal link to help your user. When you write your content, write it with the idea of what you want the user to do, how you want them to behave Authorship and Authorank We can not talk about search engine trust factors without discussing authorship and Google plus. G+ is a smart way of connecting real people with content they have written. This would be a major trust signal as not only would a piece of content have to stand on its own merit but would also be judged on its authors past writings. A piece written by an industry expert would almost certainly gain more trust than a piece of content penned by some unknown Other content related trust signals (theory) Local Search People in the SEO industry are fully aware of citations for local search. One of the main factors with regard to citations is having a physical address. Google goes to great lengths to either confirm a physical telephone number or a physical address. By confirming the address they are saying that this business truly exists. By having an address and a company name that is not only on your own website but is also repeated on trusted sites this is a major trust factor from my perspective. I would imagine even when not targeting local search that having citations would add to the trust of a website and in turn lead to increased rankings. So having an address on the site would help with the sites trust. Outgoing Links The links you place within your copy and your site can also be a signal to Google regarding the trustworthiness of your content. Is the link pointing to content that is also trustworthy as well as related to your topic? Images and video At this moment in time computers are not able to conceptualise what an image is it may be able to tell if its a person by the amount of skin tone colours, but I don’t believe that the Google image algorithm is able to identify the difference between one object or another. This also applies with any moving images such as video. So how does Google and the other search engines decide that an image is a representative of your page content. If your page content is about aeroplanes and you have an image on your site within an article about the Euro fighter and it's alt tag says "Euro-fighter"one would assume that the image is of a Euro-fighter. This may lead it to rank in the image search for the term "Euro-fighter"but what if the picture is of a ball point pen Within the image search it will receive minimum if any click trough’s or views. The lack of views would be an indicator that the image is not relevant to the term being searched for. This I would assume would filter down to the main search results. This would also apply in the same way to video. To sum up the on page trust signals Google is looking for naturally written content when I say natural I mean content written for people to understand and comprehend. Although I feel in principle this is a good thing I do not think that search engines are capable of ranking content efficiently without pointers to what the content is about. Some people may say about writing in this manner is gaming the search engines. I would disagree on this as the job of an SEO is to make sure that the search engines understand and are able to access i.e. spider the contents of a website efficie
