Crap detection for content curators. Is it time for everyone who shares stuff they find on the Internet to think of themselves as content curators. Beats being a rumor monger or Typhoid Mary of misinformation.
Sarah McElrath's curator insight, May 10, 2013 8:14 AM

Could be used when teaching evaluation of online content / critical thinking skills.

Ruveanna Hambrick's curator insight, October 2, 2014 10:30 AM

This is a good source for knowing how to "crap detect" not only for news websites and blog posts but also for social media claims as well.

Does a Designer Mind Virus Thrive on Dopamine?

Does a Designer Mind Virus Thrive on Dopamine? | Dopamine Secrets and Other Neuromarketing Conspiracies | Scoop.it

A designer mind virus is a distinct Mind Virus that has been expertly designed for the purpose of Viral marketing. These types of designer memes are usually created by neuromarketing experts like Mark Joyner, Russell Wright, Sue Bell, Seth Godin or successful advertising and branding agencies (Madmen.) Madmen- or Madison Avenue Agencies with a grasp of evolutionary psychology and neuroeconomics, are responsible for the creation of these designer cultural viral memes that permeate and more often than not, toxify our minds with unwanted and often unrecognized input and unwanted behavioral modification. Russell Wright of Epimemetics LLC claims that a designer mind virus can be used to liberate humanity in the same way it is predominantly used to bind humanity. http://www.themezoom-neuroeconomics.com/Designer_Mind_Virus

Video: Bright Shiny Object Syndrome In Business Failure

Neuromarketing is an understanding of why people buy. It’s a skill, in contrast to a thing, like a blog or Facebook. Recently there have been a number of folks up on the Neuromarketing Soapbox, even though many don’t call it that. They claim to offer you the “super powers” of persuasion marketing rather than another “bright shiny object”.
