The Role Of Social Media In Pre-Employment Candidate Screening [INFOGRAPHIC]

gwynethjones's insight:

Boring Title But FASCINATING Infographic!

Basically, those who Tweet should do so well & worthy. The world IS Watching. So are your future employers or your boss! Or like your principal or your superintendent.

You SHOULD share and share some more ideas, tips, lessons, successess of your students, community good news, & positive messages.

In your Tweets/Blog/FB/Instagram

Don't bash your students, your employer, your school or district, don't curse, dwell on negativity, and really - shouldn't have to say this but don't Tweet about drinking or partying  - In fact, for staff or teacher parties off site, maybe we should say "let's enjoy this party responsibly & "not record it"**  Or maybe we shouldn't be still going to parties that get that crazy that it's an issue? ;-) j/k

As in all things, educators should be like Caesar's wife - above suspicion or reproach.  -BUT that does NOT mean you can't be fun or have a personality! Just be professional.

Delete any late night Tweets!  Hey, I bet this would make a good blog post. Hmmmmm brekkie first!

**suggested by @theartguy after he thought my original idea of collecting all the cell phones & cameras was a wee bit controlling or draconian - whatevs!  LOL

Why You Need to be on Social Media

Why You Need to be on Social Media | Social Media: Don't Hate the Hashtag | Scoop.it
If you are a private citizen with no business concern at all, then there is no great need for you to be on social media. The main reason that many private citizens are on it is because it is fun.
gwynethjones's insight:

For businesses, brands and yes, EDUCATORS!

Whether we like it or not, to be a successful connected educator today means a couple important things that take committment, time and work - Transparency, social media, and sharing (blogging).

Branding doesn't hurt, either.

Ivy League Guru's curator insight, March 28, 6:11 PM

imes have changed. No longer do college recruiters just look at your high school grades and college application. Today, they look at your online profile and behavior. Your tweets, Facebook pics, Instagram pictures, Youtube videos and blog comments now all play a part in your college application.

Lets ask DUKE what they think.  One of their  accepted students is doing porn to pay her way through school. Did they know that she was a porn star when she  applied?

“Colleges are a microcosm of American society,” Wade said. “It’s a story of hormone-driven kids packed into dorms like sardines. And what we see when we look there -- the glamorization of casual sex; the binge-drinking; the crude, insensitive humor; the homophobia; the racism -- is a story about us.”

Said Wade, the Occidental sociologist.

Take no chances -- Just clean it up -- depending on how bad you want that Ivy league acceptance!
