8 Ways To Destroy Your Friendships

8 Ways To Destroy Your Friendships | Domestic Politics, Foreign Policy & Culture | Scoop.it

Dear Belladonna Rogers,

I don’t have as many guys as friends as I used to. Sure, some die and others move away, but I’ve been thinking that maybe I’ve played a part in getting where I am today. My wife and I don’t get invited places anymore. What makes people end friendships or drift apart? I know I’ve made my share of mistakes. What I’m wondering is: have I made them all?

Lonely Guy in Las Vegas

Dear Lonely Guy,

Friendships end in many ways, none of them pleasant. Other than the strains of geography or lack of any sense of commonality, friendships die when one friend reaches a boiling point, a point of no return, a point beyond which apologies and promises just don’t matter anymore.

DOMESTIC TERRORISM - OCCUPY WALL STREET CREW PLANNED TO BLOW UP A CLEVELAND BRIDGE

DOMESTIC TERRORISM - OCCUPY WALL STREET CREW PLANNED TO BLOW UP A CLEVELAND BRIDGE | Domestic Politics, Foreign Policy & Culture | Scoop.it
The Occupy Movement, rather than being an innocent political or social movement, is actually a DOMESTIC TERRORIST movement allied with violent leftists, communists, Nazis, and Islamofascists.

Ironically, it has garnered considerable support from the Democratic Party, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama. The results are coming in, and a most flagrant example are the reports today from the FBI and various news outlets.

The LA Times reports:

May 1, 2012, 9:10 a.m.

"Five men, including three "self-proclaimed" anarchists, have been arrested in connection with a plot to blow up a bridge over the Cuyahoga Valley National Park south of downtown Cleveland, federal officials said Tuesday.

Black men named Trayvon get killed all of the time in America, so why does the left fail to express consistent outrage? Is there something different about the slaying of Trayvon Martin's death, or is the real problem that the left tolerates extraordinary violence against black men in America?

Co-written by the MIT economist Daron Acemoglu and the Harvard political scientist James A. Robinson, "Why Nations Fail" argues that the key differentiator between countries is "institutions." Nations thrive when they develop "inclusive" political and economic institutions, and they fail when those institutions become "extractive" and concentrate power and opportunity in the hands of only a few.

"Inclusive economic institutions that enforce property rights, create a level playing field, and encourage investments in new technologies and skills are more conducive to economic growth than extractive economic institutions that are structured to extract resources from the many by the few."

LOTTO Winners, beware! Meet the four who went from jackpot to jack squat | Domestic Politics, Foreign Policy & Culture | Scoop.it

One of the saddest tales is that of Jack Whittaker, the cowboy-hat-wearing West Virginia contractor who scored a $315 million Powerball win in December 2002.

Already a millionaire, Whittaker pledged to give 10 percent of his fortune to charity. But legal and personal problems took a heavy toll, and he started hitting the sauce and hanging out at sleazy jiggle joints.

Just eight months after his big score, he was robbed of $545,000 in a strip club. A month later, his granddaughter died of an overdose from drugs bought with an allowance from him. A short time later, his daughter also died of a drug overdose

“I wish I’d torn that ticket up,” Whittaker sobbed to reporters at the time.

By January 2007, Whittaker told cops thieves had emptied his bank accounts.

FIRST THERE WAS THE ARAB SPRING. IS IT TIME FOR THE AMERICAN SPRING?

It has become a FELONY for Americans to protest a politician if the Secret Service is around. In other words, if you protest you go to jail free.

------

I wrote a column about a week ago entitled “The First Amendment Has Been Murdered” and there is no other word for it, as free speech is not free if the government insulates itself to the point where they can’t or won’t hear us.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I liken the country in its present condition, to a giant pressure cooker which is about ready to blow, but the crowd in Washington, are much like the Aristocrats of the French Revolution, oblivious to the seething anger and resentment surrounding them, attending social functions while Marie Antoinette made stupid remarks like “What no bread, let them eat cake”, which as we know she paid for with her head.

President Obama Looked Across the Border into North Korea and Saw the Future of America

President Obama Looked Across the Border into North Korea and Saw the Future of America | Domestic Politics, Foreign Policy & Culture | Scoop.it

A news story that has not made a big splash in the United States is the overwhelming defeat of the Socialists in Australia. The extent of the defeat was so great that it’s been compared to Gen. George Custer’s Last Stand at the June 1876 Little Big Horn massacre. The American Thinker reports:Some of the Seats lost by the socialists had been held by them for 100 years. The result means that the socialists will need some 15 years to re-build and may not warm the government benches for a generation.

Now if only our 2012 election will net similar results.

While the socialists were going down to defeat in Australia, President Obama was visiting South Korea. Someone handed him a pair of binoculars so he could look across the border into North Korea. And what did he see? The future of the United States if he, his fellow Democrats, and RINOs are not defeated in November.

Israel will encircle its land borders with physical barriers that give it the ability to control its boundaries, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Tuesday on a tour of the 4.7- meter-tall, 242-kilometer-long fence going up along the Egyptian border.

Netanyahu flew by helicopter to the border with Sinai, as he has done at six-month intervals over the past three years, to look at the progress on building the barrier that will extend from Kerem Shalom near the Gaza Strip to Eilat on the Red Sea.

Obama’s Pick for World Bank Hates Capitalism

Obama’s Pick for World Bank Hates Capitalism | Domestic Politics, Foreign Policy & Culture | Scoop.it

Imagine if President Obama appointed radical Noam Chomsky, who has denounced capitalism as a “murderously destructive catastrophe,” to head up a committee on economic growth. That’s less of a stretch than it may seem, considering Obama’s nominee to head the World Bank, current Dartmouth College President Jim Yong Kim. Kim’s expertise is in health policy, so little is known about his views on economic development, the World Bank’s primary purpose. What is on the public record, however, is deeply troubling. A case in point is a collection of studies that Kim co-edited in 2000, Dying for Growth: Global Inequality and the Health of the Poor. The grim title accurately reflects the book’s radical central premise, namely that capitalism and economic growth is bad for the poor across the world.

Sultan Knish: Utopia's Free Lunch

Sultan Knish: Utopia's Free Lunch | Domestic Politics, Foreign Policy & Culture | Scoop.it

Lunch is a nice meal and a free lunch is even nicer. The problem with free lunches is that someone always has to pay for them. Lunches don't grow on trees, unless they're fresh fruit, the ingredients have to be gathered, processed, shipped, mixed, prepared, packaged, shipped again and put on your plate by a waiter working in an establishment that has to pay rent, heating, electricity and salaries.

A free lunch isn't just free food, it's the entire human and mechanical infrastructure needed to get it ready and subsidizing a free lunch means paying for that entire infrastructure. That's one reason why some states and cities are slipping into bankruptcy like a man who has had too many martinis over lunch. It's not just the free lunch that's expensive, it's the often inflated cost of the lunch delivery system that is killing everything.

The free lunch began as the Bread and Circuses which had its roots in a Roman bread dole. Free or subsidized bread is still a feature of political life in many parts of the world, including Egypt where the revolution had more to do with the price of bread than with democracy. The Muslim Brotherhood offered voters food giveways, turning Bread and Circuses into Bread and Beheadings, which is also a circus of sorts.

Free Egyptian bread started out as American subsidized aid. The world's free lunch is still doled out in Washington D.C. where the Senate dining rooms had to be privatized after losing 18 million dollars. A government that can't even run a cafeteria without losing millions of dollars can't run anything else without losing billions or trillions doing it.

ABC News boldly proclaimed police surveillance video of George Zimmerman being taken into the Sanford police station the night Trayvon Martin was killed showed no blood or bruises from an alleged physical encounter Zimmerman claimed to have had with 17 year-old Trayvon Martin.

A new High Definition clip from the same video appears to make clear that Zimmerman had a gash, or wound of some kind on the back of his head.

That would be totally consistent with his version of events on the night in question and opposite the impression ABC News gave its viewers.

Putin's had tightened control over Russia to an extent that the Obamas and the Warrens could only fondly dream of in their fondest federalist fantasies. And it's easier to steal elections, when you don't have to kowtow to a bunch of provincial interests and take the complaints of bible and gun owners seriously. But much like Putin and Ahmadinejad, Obama enjoys dim prospects in a straight election. And unlike them, he doesn't have a military force that will turn up a few million ballots and send the protesters straight to the hospital, if not to the morgue.

Obama likes being a democrat, it's just the democracy part that he doesn't much care for.

This is a White House that doesn't pass laws to curry favor with the general voting population. That's what publicity stunts and race cards and wars against women are for. In 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, where Al Sharpton is an honored guest and policy is outsourced to whoever comes earliest and tosses the foam ball the best, policy isn't made to soothe the savage electoral beast, it's done to pay off buddies, soothe furious Muslims and implement whatever idea that a committee of unhinged leftists, Clinton veterans and friends from Chicago think is the way to go.
