Not all healthcare conferences are created equal. Some conferences leave a lasting impact with stories that will stay with you as a fellow human being and insights that will empower you professionally. Other conferences can be just fine, but without anything particularly eventful. Many months later you can clearly remember the impactful moments from the great conferences, while rarely remembering the program of the uneventful. What determines this outcome? Do some conferences just have to be more boring than others, or can the outcome be greatly enhanced by how we design conferences?

Denise Silber's curator insight, February 13, 6:22 AM

At this year’s Olympics, the gold medal goes to the quantified self | Doctors 2.0 & You | Scoop.it
The age of the quantified athlete is upon us. Data-driven training is increasingly common in sports, and this year's Olympics has no shortage of competitors who have—or should have—benefitted from fitness trackers and analysis. Medical Homes May Not Be the Answer

Medical Homes May Not Be the Answer | Doctors 2.0 & You | Scoop.it
A patient-centered medical home (PCMH) demonstration project did little to reduce costs and utilization or improve the quality of care, a 3-year study found.

Denise Silber's insight:

Medical homes may not yet be able to demonstrate their value! Yet again, we see the difficulty of proving the numbers. Is it because we are shifting unknown as well as unknown variables when we change the organization of healthcare? Is it because we have insufficient research on the organization of care?

Merci Denise, de l'avoir signalé. En effet, c'est une belle analyse de la posture pas toujours linéaire du médecin. Ce qui me semble remarquable dans le post est l’intérêt toujours supérieur du patient.

Invasion of the Taxi Snatchers: Uber Leads an Industry's Disruption

Invasion of the Taxi Snatchers: Uber Leads an Industry's Disruption | Doctors 2.0 & You | Scoop.it
Love it or hate it, Uber is winning its war for passengers—and cabbies

Denise Silber's insight:

Why is there little or no disruption in healthcare? Interesting article about Uber vs the taxis gives us food for thought.. I first got to try Uber in SFO and Silicon Valley and loved the service. Why have new companies been able to disrupt the organization of the taxi industry? Because the taxi industry is a business that did not sufficiently satisfy customers and did not seek to improve the service, Why are companies not able to disrupt the organization of healthcare? Because the incentives to improve or disappear barely exist.
