As a result of mammographic screening programs, as many 1.3 million women over age 40 were overdiagnosed with breast cancer over 3 decades, researchers reported.

These results are confusing. Is screening a good idea or not? The knee-jerk response is of course screening is a good idea. But under the surface the tupe of screenings that are done have questionable value in addition to no value is women who have dense breasts in which the standard screen (mommograms) are useless.
The verdict is: more study and follow up needs to occur AND ture prevention means that women must make choices to live a lifestyle that promotees wellness as excess weight and obeisity are the top risk factors for development of breast cancer.
Still go get your mammogram as the medical establishment continues to sort out the breast cancer debate.
