Create your first sticky note by selecting "sticky" from the upper lefthand menu, selecting a color and typing in the sticky note field. Press enter and drag your sticky note to where you want it on the board. The Image and Document sticky notes work the same way, with the added ability to upload an image or document. The video sticky will allow you to link a video from Youtube or Vimeo.

2017 Predictions in Social Media and Content Marketing

2017 Predictions in Social Media and Content Marketing | Distance Learning & Technology | Scoop.it

Like last year’s predictions deck, we’ve pulled together a select group of 70 top marketing minds who rock the digital trenches every day, to find out their vision for “What’s Next in 2017” in social media and content marketing. They live it, breathe it, and know what’s working today, so no doubt we’ll get a glimpse into the crystal ball and reveal key trends based on their insight and experience before they happen. It wouldn’t be the first time.

Last year, 69 folks weighed in (you can check out the full piece here: http://bit.ly/2016ContentSocialPredictions and they overwhelmingly predicted that live streaming video would dominate 2016. They couldn’t have been more spot on, with the explosion of Facebook Live in April 2016 and Twitter’s Periscope surpassing the 200 million broadcast mark.

So what will they say for 2017? Read through and see if you agree with their predictions, and compare word clouds to last year’s answers versus what they had to say for the coming year. ...

3 Social Media Design Tools That Create Stunning Images

3 Social Media Design Tools That Create Stunning Images | Distance Learning & Technology | Scoop.it
#1: Canva

Canva is a well-known and respected free online design tool, so that’s where we’ll start. While you can buy premium graphics and photos on Canva, the four-step process described in this article doesn’t require you to pay anything. Happy days!

To get started, log in or sign up for Canva and you’ll see the view below. Now you need to choose the canvas size (the size/type of graphic you want to make).

If you want to create a graphic for a specific platform, choose the most appropriate canvas. However, if you want a one-size-fits-all solution, select the Social Media option, which is simply 800 x 800 pixels. It will work well on all of the main platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter desktop.

The Beautiful, Messy, Inspiring, and Harrowing World of Online Learning

Keynote at the 2014 BCNET conference in Vancouver, BC. In this presentation I shared stories of learners' and scholars' experiences online, arising from multiple years of qualitative research studies, and framed in the context of the historic realities of educational technology practice. These stories illustrate how emerging technologies and open practices have (a) broadened access to education, (b) reinforced privilege, and (c) re-imagined the ways that academics enact and share scholarship. They also illustrate the multiple realities that exist in online education practice, and the differences between reality and potential and beautiful vs. ugly online education..

There are some interesting slides and ideas. For example, wisdom is included as the bridge between knowledge and transforming. Just knowing something does not change us unless we apply and use knowledge wisely.
