"A remarkable feature of American colleges is the lack of attention that most faculties pay to the growing body of research about how much students are learning and how they could be taught to learn more. Hundreds of studies have accumulated on how undergraduates develop during college and what effects different methods of teaching have on improving critical thinking, moral reasoning, quantitative literacy, and other skills vital to undergraduate education. One would think faculties would receive these findings eagerly. Asokan said that its facial recognition technology could, for example, be used to detect a person’s general happiness for a week, their favorite colors, and more just from their Instagram photos. 

Right now, Mad Street Den is making money via API calls but in the future it will model its pricing based on the specifics of each vertical. For example, e-commerce partners could pay via affiliate commission or revenue-sharing, while other industries could be billed via licensing fees.

University students are cashing in on lecture and texbook notes by selling them online using a new service called Nexus Notes.

University of Sydney student Dan Brand, launched SpoonFeedMe,  a website that offers explainer videos on course material created by top students.Thinkswap, another local company, provides a similar service to Nexus Notes which offers over 10,000, study notes, lecture guides and assignments (for referencing) from Australian university students and has more than 30,000 registered users.
