I honestly haven't read this article but the byline is pretty obvious. That promise is often referred to as the 'unique selling proposition'. You can get by for a little while by not living up to your promises but, with everybody having such easy access to social media and understanding how to us it....and the growing prevalence of 'review sites' of all kinds today.....it's easy to get a bad reputation and hard to put one 'out'.

If you read this article, it's obviously something somebody bought from a 'content-mill'. The English is really crappy. I know because I do content writing myself and I am a Native English Speaker (NES)....and I'm also the CMO for a mid-sized call center in Manila. This is the kind of article that makes you want to stop reading articles with pictures of models trying to look like they're actually business people.

This article is really good in relation to direct marketing. Directing marketing is all about generating a response from consumers to build brand equity. However there are positive and negative sides to direct marketing. Direct marketing is important in an IMC program and as a marketer you need to monitor any negative comments you encounter.

I really liked this article as it relates to direct marketing which we leant this week. (week 8). telemarketing is indeed a great example of direct marketing. Direct marketing is very important for any business, as it involves face-to face.

This article explains how telemarketing in terms of direct marketing is an effective way to engage with consumers. It goes on about how important direct marketing is to bulding brand equity. The problem with telemarketing is that even though you are getting immediate responses from your consumers, the responses given can be inaccurate. Some consumers may even chose not to engage which can waste time and reduce information. I believe relemarkiting IS a good form of direct marketing but still isn't as good as face-to-face marketing in terms of getting accurate and complete results

This is actually fun. I read this article too....yep! Another NES (none-Native-English-Speaker). It's not readily obvious to people who don't work in the outsourced telemarketing (or BPO business) business writing like this shows the need to a top-quality quality control team 'behind' any outsourcing one might do.

There's nothing wrong with outsourcing telemarketing or anything else. It's simply another, more high-tech, form of delegating a task. But...outsourcing does entail a different quality control process as compared to having your team in the next room.

The problem companies get into with telemarketing outsourcing is that they don't realize that they still have to (1) manage their expectations and the work they're getting and (2) have excellent communications with their contact at the outsourcing service provider.

When clients don't do that....that's when little quality control issues creep in and often gradually downgrade the quality of the finished product and eventually the client leaves with a bad impression of offshore outsourced telemarketing. That's probaby one of the reasons why we've done pretty well with our customers....i.e. we've got Westerners at the executive level who've actually been over here in the Philipines for awhile and we keep our eye on the product coming 'off the line'.

I'm Scooping this because not only is it basically accurate in the points it makes (regardless of the English profeciency of the writer) but it also shows how curation (a la Scoop.it) can be used to grow awareness and influence.

 

The secondary reason I'm scooping it is because it, once again, shows the prevelance of outsourced web-copy on the market.  If you read this article....you'll see indications that a NES (native English speaker) didn't write it. 

 

If business would take the time to build a team of writers who understand the language very well and the particular niche (or style) they're writing in....they'd be able to crank out a lot of content that would help their web position a lot.  Companies just don't take the time to do it.

In the internet marketing business (one of my interests) you don't see many people integrating offshore outsourced telemarketing very effectively any more.

 

There was a time period when it was 'hot' in the industry but, because the people doing it didn't watch the quality of their agents, it got a bad rap as being 'ineffective'. 

Actually however, if you're willing to pay a little more you can find Filipinos who speak excellent English and the ROI is still very high because you'll still pay a lot less here than you would for the same talent back in the US.

 

There's even a small but growing supply of native-English-speaking foreigners....like me!
