Analyze and Improve Your Writing Skills Online With Slick Write

Analyze and Improve Your Writing Skills Online With Slick Write | Digitized media | Scoop.it

"Even the best writers from among us are prone to the odd mistake. Slick Write is an online tool which helps to correct and even improve your writing on a number of levels.

"Slick Write enables you to evaluate the stylistic features and potential flaws of your work, as well as giving you the ability to identify spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. Interestingly, the tool gives you an insight into the structure of your content, breaking up paragraphs and sentences in a unique, informative way.

"You can analyse the flow of your work, and assess some of the statistics which Slick Write provides for you. When using all the features in unison, it becomes relatively easy to turn an average piece of text, and turn it into a literary masterpiece.

Curation Examples: Videry, a Collection of Video Clips For Web Designers

Curation Examples: Videry, a Collection of Video Clips For Web Designers | Digitized media | Scoop.it

Via Robin Good

Robin Good's curator insight, June 17, 2013 1:14 PM

Videry is a great example of video curation at work.

Videry is a hand-curated collection of over 30 great video clips for web designers.

The beauty and value of this collection, in the context of curation is in the following:

  • The quality of the clips selected

  • A clean, and simple layout - content over looks
The essence is in the selection made and that's why it needs to stand out.

  • The essential info is upfront - video thumbnails + title + description
    no other distractions.

  • A Pinterest-like simmetrical visual layout that allows easy scanning of the page

Where it could do better:

  • Titles: no personalization for context - titles in the collection are exactly as the originals - the curator here could have improved and contextuaized titles for this collection, while keeping a good reference, visible to everyone, of the original one.

  • Descriptions: these are the original video descriptions. No additions, no opinion, no contextualization. The curator could have written his own descriptions from these in the context of this collection, while leaving the original descriptions as an extra option (since they are all already accessible under the original video location).

  • No visibile authorship for the collection.

P.S.: I think this clean design used in this collection is so effective that I wish there was a service prividing the ability to create curated video collections with such information design elegance.

Where To Find Hot Trending Content Online

Robin Good's curator insight, July 21, 2013 11:53 AM

SEOMomma provides some really useful pointers for finding "trending content" online:

  1. http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends takes you to where Google curates the trending queries, if you can find something here that you can spin and link to your niche you could get a nice bump in traffic.

  2. http://www.google.com/trends/topcharts everyone loves ‘top tens’ and at this links Google curates the most popular ‘top ten charts’ song to space objects. Children’s TV to Politicians, whisky to coffee and lots I between. It may inspire you to produce your own ‘top ten’.

  3. http://www.hashtags.org/ will give you a list of trending hashtags and http://www.hashtags.org/trending-on-twitter/ will give you what’s trending on Twitter.

  4. http://whatthetrend.com/ has general subjects and if you investigate you’ll see how sites like Huffington Post use the hashtag to create content that could pull in visitors.

If you want more of these, just head on to: http://seomomma.com/content-creation-curated-content/ for the full list.

Useful. Resourceful. 8/10
