Technology can enable teachers to accommodate a variety of orientations to learning, track student progress, remediate struggling students, and challenge advanced learners. Traditional barriers no longer restrain educators from meeting the needs of every child. And children are reaping the benefits of the digital explosion! Scratch: a programming language for everyone. Create interactive stories, games, music and art - and share them online.
Megsy Poole's insight:

Developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group, Scratch is a fun interactive program which allows students to create and share their projects in the Scratch online community. While learning mathematical and computation skills Scratch encourages students to think creatively and reason systematically while engaging in collaborative learning. Projects also provide rich opportunities for applying, synthesising and extending learning from a range of learning areas such as Science, Mathematics, the Humanities and the Arts (ACARA, 2012).

By snapping together a series of blocks and applying scripts students can take control of graphics, movement, music and sound to create stories, games and animations, share them and even comment and become involved in other projects in the Scratch online community.
