Social Media to Marketers: Get Over Yourself! | ClickZ

Social Media to Marketers: Get Over Yourself! | ClickZ | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

Is your firm still sitting on the sidelines debating whether it should jump into the social media fray? If so, chances are your discussion is probably centered on the wrong issues. On social media platforms, your organization should focus on how you can support and enhance the social media community, not your firm.

On social media, consumers tend to be interested in themselves, their family, and friends. For marketers, this means you need to get over yourself! People are on social media to socialize, not get bombarded with your marketing messages. Marketers have followed them to social media for the same reasons they use any other media platform: because it's where consumers are and advertising requires large numbers!

5 Imperatives for Marketing Strategy in the Digital Age

5 Imperatives for Marketing Strategy in the Digital Age | digitalassetman | Scoop.it
Do you have a digital marketing strategy? Probably not. Chances are, what you have is a collection of tactics that augment massive TV buying. Those days are quickly coming to an end. The line between digital and analog is blurring and will soon disappear.

The silos of creative, media and digital are no longer tenable, but the domains of creative account planning, communication strategy and technology have been sequestered in different agency structures, each operating in blissful ignorance of each other. That can’t go on.

Customer Experience Optimization: A Custom Website for Every Customer

Customer Experience Optimization: A Custom Website for Every Customer | digitalassetman | Scoop.it
A truly personalized online customer experience -- what essentially amounts to a custom website for every customer -- has been the Holy Grail of Marketing for over a decade..

After all, consider the great lengths web marketers go to in order to collect data about their website visitors, not to mention all the time they spend poring over it in effort to predict what their customers look like, what they want, and how to best give it to them. Now think about how little they actually do with this information.

Intangible Assets: Information itself is a critical enterprise asset.DAM Foundation Creating the standards in digital asset management | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

Information itself is a critical enterprise asset, and therefore should be managed and accounted for as traditional assets are, and for me that includes digital assets.

We are after all in the knowledge economy, so using metrics based on billions associated with a brand, the human intellect value must run into massive numbers when associating human capital missing off most spreadsheets around the world and in my opinion only set to increase as we head towards Web 3.0. the linked data, open date, linked open data worlds and data being the new oil, soil or snake oil.

The Content Economy: How to spot technology-centric thinking

The Content Economy: How to spot technology-centric thinking | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

I hear questions such as the ones below being asked all the time:
What should we have on our intranet startpage?
How do we get people to read corporate news on the intranet?
Should we have comments to news?
What features should we have on our collaboration platform?
When can we have blogs and wikis?
How should we use SharePoint?

Often, the people who ask these kinds of questions think they have a user-centric mindset, that they put the needs of the users first, but what they are saying is actually evidence of the opposite. Questions such as the ones above are evidence of technology-centric thinking, and as such they are more dangerous than they might sound at first. We really don’t help to make it easier for users to do their job by asking these questions. We might get all excited about a new feature, tool or design, thinking it will really help to increase the users’ productivity, but unfortunately the opposite often becomes true; for every feature we add, we add to their burden. The simple reason is that we use the wrong starting point for our questions - the technology

You just can’t move for social curation services right now. Juniper predicts NFC payments to hit $74 billion by 2015 | Android Community | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

Do you have Near Field Communication (NFC) built into your device? Probably not. But that doesn’t really matter, because the future of smartphones has NFC well under its wing. At the moment, you’ll find that very few devices (such as the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus) are NFC compatible, thus making Google Wallet still relatively new to the public. Despite its unpopularity, Juniper research predicts NFC payments will hit $74 billion by the time 2015 rolls around.

Digital Asset Management in Social Media Strategy | Sandhill

The enterprise today is well aware of the benefits of a cutting-edge social media strategy and is more committed than ever to achieving social media ROI. But for the marketer, executing a social media strategy can be time-consuming and with an ROI that seems impossible to prove. With the explosion of this new channel in the last couple of years, marketers have spent enormous amounts of energy trying to optimize social media processes and finding better ways to measure the effectiveness of these campaigns.

One such trend that has grown from this effort is the increased use of rich media management to drive social media optimization, social media ROI, and customer engagement. Digital asset management (DAM) is the management, cataloging and delivery of rich media files. The benefits of DAM for marketing and communications teams are realized across channels from print production to online marketing and of course, social media marketing. Without DAM, a campaign focused on image and video content, a mainstay for today’s marketer, becomes difficult to manage and track, costing a company countless wasted hours.

The Semantic Economy

The Semantic Economy | digitalassetman | Scoop.it
We’ve recently seen Facebook go public with a $100 billion valuation and General Motors, formerly the world’s biggest company, go effectively bankrupt and need to be bailed out by the US government.

Meanwhile, the new web darlings, Instagram and Pinterest, have built communities of millions of people in a matter of months, not years and they have done it with a staff that can fit in my living room (which, I might add, is not that big).

The True Value of Social Media Data | Business 2 Community

The True Value of Social Media Data | Business 2 Community | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

There is a value to social media data, both a quantitative significance and a qualitative importance. Businesses, non-profits, government agencies, and others, leverage data to learn about consumers and clients in order to tailor and enhance experiences, both online and offline. The Rise of Visual Storytelling In Marketing

The Rise of Visual Storytelling In Marketing | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

Visual, as it turns out, is also the direction in which the world of online marketing has headed.

The rise of visual storytelling as a means of spreading a marketing message couldn’t possibly have evaded you. A number of image-based platforms out there, including Pinterest, Instagram, and SlideShare, have already made a strong statement about how visual content can impact business results.

Images, presentations, and infographics are getting shared with ease, attracting thousands of views and sending tons of traffic to their original sources. Then, marketers assume the responsibility of qualifying the new visits and converting them into leads.

I like the 3 tips shared at the end of this post for how to get started.  And I like that the author covers 3 tools everyone can use to bring visual storytelling into their marketing.

And thank you fellow curator Gregg Morris for finding and sharing this article!
