Actually, content marketing is nothing new, in fact, John Deere started using content marketing in 1895 when he published a magazine called The Furrow. The goal of the magazine was to seen as a resource for their customers.
The Furrow had educational content and focused on teaching farmers how to be more fruitful business owners. The magazine now has a 1.5 million circulation in 40 countries and 12 different languages.

AOL, Apple, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Twitter, and Yahoo have all signed a letter to President Obama and Congress that The Hill reports will run in national print ads on Monday.

I still believe that encryption does not complete the job. The ultimate security is relinquishing control of the encryption key and passing it on directly to the user. Very similar to what mega.co.nz already does. Of course, if you lose your password you lose your data but somewhere along the line the user has to be responsible for his/her own data.

These, according to the 40-page report “Museums in a Digital Age” from Arups, may actually be some of the likely new profiles of prestigious museums 25 years from now.
The report projects that:
"...future museums will see personalised content, new levels of sustainability and a visitor experience extended beyond present expectations of time and space."
My comment: If you are a curator and are interested in exploring and understanding what the future of large collections and museums may look like and which forces are going to be driving such changes, this is a good report to read.

With a fresh $225 million in its pocket, Pinterest is gearing up to spend a little of it to build out its platform and the data that powers it. The company..
“As part of our agreement, we’ll pay Getty Images a fee for the data they share and will help make sure that their images get proper attribution,” Pinterest notes today. “We’re just getting started with Getty Images but we’re excited about the possibilities of what their data can help us deliver.”
Getty says that it will be providing two pieces of technology for this service. The first is its PicScout image recognition technology — which will crawl Pinterest to identify Getty Images on Pinterest. It will then link up those images with Getty’s metadata using its Connect API. “We’ll get a photo credit for our images on Pinterest’s site and a link back. Pinterest users get more context and have more fun,” Getty noted today.
The cloud can offer transformation to businesses, but for maximum impact it must be integrated with existing IT
The article implies that IT will continue to play a major role in businesses. When it comes to either a Private or a Hybrid cloud I agree, in fact I am sure that most biusinesses will opt for one of these options. Nonetheless, startups and / or businesses with low security requirements will position themselves to take advantage of the low costs associated with the Public cloud.

When ‘Life in a Day’- a crowdsourced documentary film by Ridely Scott, Kevin Macdonald and Youtube, premiered in the Sundance Film Festival 2011, it created a stir among enthusiasts. With the aim of documenting one day, July 24, as lived by people around the world, the film was a great concept that captured peoples’ imagination. The film is 94 minutes 53 seconds long and includes scenes selected from 4,500 hours of footage in 80,000 submissions from 192 nations.

These ‘tags’ we call metadata and metadata is fast becoming an important feature of the way we find, use and relate digital media on the web. People are now waking up to the use of DAM and the importance of metadata in the future of the web; a world where search engines are intelligent, where similar data is linked via shared metadata, where everybody is a publisher and has a ‘cloud’ of information which allows them to connect with likeminded people and be viewed within the context of their interests. We are reaching the point where the devices we use to access the web are ‘learning’ information about us and utilising that information to make our lives easier, and this is where metadata really comes into its own as it allows a simple image, video or document to become an ‘asset’ to us, rich in information and consequently far more valuable.
Wolfram gave me a glimpse under the hood in an hour-long conversation. And I have to say, what I saw was amazing.
Google wants to understand objects and things and their relationships so it can give answers, not just results. Google made one of the biggest-ever changes in its search engine, as part of a shift away from matching keywords on Web pages to understanding the meaning of search queries.
I went to a Google Apps For Education Summit last weekend. They did not say much about these changes, but interesting ideas were shared among participants.
You may have heard about Google Hummingbird. It's an important innovation with the Google search algorithm that understands the meaning of the search query rather than simply using the keywords - sometimes called Semantic Search. They have also announced that users can now conduct searches on hashtags.
