Activate - Motivate - TEXTIVATE!

Activate - Motivate - TEXTIVATE! | digital web tools | Scoop.it

Textivate is an online facility for creating and sharing interactive browser-based activities. Text re-ordering, gap-fills, text re-construction, anagrams, matching, memory, hangman, flashcards, millionaire and lots more - all automatically generated based on any text and/or list of matching items that you put into the textivate text box. Much of the site is free to use, and subscribers can upload resources to share with their students or embed activities on a blog or website. It is browser-based, so it works on desktops, laptops, ipads etc. The activities are ideal for whole-class work with any interactive whiteboard. You can see video tutorials here: http://textivate.posthaven.com/video-tutorials To help you get started, browse the hundreds of public resources on the site, or click on "textivate now" to see the range of activities available.

I find it extremely useful in revisiting texts and consolidating language. Especially with the features it has to add/ remove words to reconstruct the whole texts it is engaging and educational.

Five Best Mind Mapping Tools

Five Best Mind Mapping Tools | digital web tools | Scoop.it
Mind mapping is a great way to brainstorm, make a plan, or turn ideas into the steps needed to make it real. Thankfully, there are great tools out there to help you build mind maps, organize them, and save them for later.

PortMacOnline's curator insight, May 12, 8:34 PM

Mindmapping has always been a great way to get your thoughts and plans organized. Here is an article which describes the top five most popular programs. Our personal preference is either Xmind or FreeMind, both free, but all of them will help your business.

I use Coggle and appreciate its ease of use
PortMacOnline's comment, May 20, 10:51 PM
@Frank Finday I have been playing around with Coggle, and I have to agree -- easy to use, and does great mindmaps.

Thanks, Nik, and sorry if I raised unnecessary doubts about this service; I suppose we all need to boost our digital literacy, and being able to figure out if a web tool is safe is one of the key skills, isn't it? Cheers!
Nik Peachey's comment, April 29, 8:10 AM
Hi Amadeu. No problem. It's always a good idea to check every source before signing up. I work very quickly and often forget so it's good to remind me. I usualy stay away from services which require me to sign in through another service, but this looks really good so I made an exception.

Not the most advanced use of the Internet for learning, by far, but still useful -- find the right time, the right place.  Find the student who thrives on this and stuff and set it up as an out of class individualized (or collaborative) student project.
