Analog Tape vs Digital Recording: Which sounds better? | recording hacks | Digital VS. Analog | Scoop.it
Los Angeles based engineer and producer Adam Kagan compares tape to digital! Does analog really sound better?
UK Kim's insight:

This is extremely interesting; in this article, you can hear sample sound of comparison between analog and digital recording. Despite many argue that there are no differences between an analog and a digital, I actually felt differences at acoustic bass between samples. After reading this article, I realize that analog recording would work in certain types of music.

This article provides a vast array of information about the benefits of analog recording versus digital recording. I really like that this article provided a breakdown of each of the main instruments when it came to recording bands, and also described the kind of equipment used when coming to the writer's conclusion. I think this article is definitely helpful to those in the industry because it provided in depth information.

UK Kim's insight:

As I mentioned in other article, controlling analog machine could be fun itself. It is really depend on an engineer who chooses the way of making sounds. However, I am willing to try to use some of vintage gears that can make unique characteristics.

Does digital sound better than analog? It all depends on the way you record that sound. Take a look at analog vs. digital sound quality and technology.
UK Kim's insight:

This article is quite informative to those who want to become a sound engineer like me. I just wonder how many people can hear the frequency in the high range such as 20 kilohertz. Moreover, people usually listen their music with their ear buds. So, in my perspective, what is the most important is whether ordinary people who are end user of my product can catch the difference of sounds or not.

Q. Is analogue mixing superior to digital summing?

Q. Is analogue mixing superior to digital summing? | Digital VS. Analog | Scoop.it
I understand that mixes from DAWs can be improved significantly if, instead of using the digital mix buss within the computer, individual tracks are converted to analogue and then summed/mixed externally. Could you explain the difference between digital and analogue mixing, and whether this analogue approach really does offer significant benefits?
UK Kim's insight:

In my opinion, it is only matter of time that a digital replaces an analog. We cannot stop the huge wave of the digital age. On the other hand, even though there are no differences between an analog and a digital, an analog can offer pure pleasure to make sound while operating actual knob or fader.
