Online Environmental Management Game | Digital tools for education | Scoop.it

Play Catchment Detox to see if you successfully manage a river catchment and create a sustainable and thriving economy. It's an online game where you're in charge of the whole catchment. You get to decide what activities you undertake - whether to plant crops, log forests, build factories or set up national parks. The aim is to avoid environmental problems and provide food and wealth for the population.

Stop by the link for more on what defines an infographic, what contributes to its popularity, as well as the various types of infographics and references for tutorials and best practices.

Curate and Publish Navigable Lists of Links with URList

Curate and Publish Navigable Lists of Links with URList | Digital tools for education | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Urlist is a web-based collaborative tool to create, publish and share navigable lists of links. Links can be easily typed or collected with the complementary bookmarklet tool, and provided with a custom description. URList automatically collects the thumbnail for each one, and the list author decides whether individual items in the list can be commented and rated by viewers. Items in a list can be easily sorted, moved around and edited at any point and each list can be set to be "public", "private" or "hidden" from public view. Lists can be set to be collaborative so that other users can contribute to them. Every URlist can be also browsed as a sequence of viewable website links kept in context by a top-of-the-page navigation bar, which allows to move at any moment to any link in the list or to follow the list as it has been organized by the author.

Creating Book Trailers with iPads

Creating Book Trailers with iPads | Digital tools for education | Scoop.it

"We all know how traditional book reports work: read a book, then write a summary to prove you read the book. I have had to drag them out of my students in the past and can relate because teachers had to drag them out of me. So what is a Book Trailer? simply an advertisement for a book. Like a movie trailer, it highlights story elements without giving everything away to entice your interest."
