Within this video is the message "When you post online, you post to the world"

The video demonstrates a positive way social media was used to get a positive outcome. It also shows that once the video was upload online it was viewed by many different people around the world and as a result the school/ soccer players got a positive outcome.

 

This video could be used by teachers to show students that when they post something online it has the potential to be seen by many different people around the world. Therefore encouraging students to be aware of the consequences that can result from something they posted online.

This is an online resource that has been developed for use by teachers, parents and students in primary and secondary year levels.

The primary and secondary resources is for use by primary and secondary school students, it covers what makes you a digital citizen. The resource has contains learning activities, videos and games that cover why digital citizenship is important, how students can keep themselves safe online, and what it takes to be a positive digital citizen.

 

Within the primary and secondary resource is a bottom at the resource that teachers can click to take them to the teacher page. On this page has resources that teachers or schools can customise to suit their lessons or activities. This page includes details on how to implement a digital citizenship program in the classroom or in the school.

 

The resource for parents includes guides and videos on; safety online, digital citizenship, and how to keep children safe online.

Teachers face many challenges when teaching/ encouraging students to be digital citizens.

The video covers some of the issues that teachers currently face when teaching digital citizenship:

- Letting students learn from their mistakes - this can create an issue because if a student accidently makes the mistake of posting a video, photo or comment that they should not have online, it can have massive implications or consequences.

- Keeping up with changes in technology - technology is changing at a faster rate than what teachers can currently keep up with.

- Being on the same page as students parents - what is allowed at home may not be allowed at school.
