Makerspaces, sometimes also referred to as hackerspaces, hackspaces, and fablabs are creative, DIY spaces where people can gather to create, invent, and learn.
Keep an eye out for this topic, more later! I'm really impressed also with the Makerspace that the Nashville Public Limitless Library was crowdsourcing and building back in Feb! I saw them on an ISTE Board of Directors trip and was blown away!!!!!

Great article! Even if it's a bit of Shameless self promotion ;-) Makerspaces don't have to be only 3D Printers & Green Screens!
What was left out of the interview was you can create a Makerspaces school!
• Have kids create, film, & produce a Cooking Show in the FACS room!
• Have kids design a personal LOGO then create cool pottery, fire it in the Art Room & paint it with their brand.
• My kids have also designed & created pencil holders & bookends around their favourite Game APP in the TechEd room like Angry Birds! http://flic.kr/p/aDf9ue - then they can write a script and "sell" them on our TV show like an InfoMercial!
