Digital Storytelling With Comics

Digital Storytelling With Comics | Digital Presentations in Education |

On Monday I published a short guide to digital storytelling with comics. This evening I gave a free webinar presentation based on that free guide. More than 200 people registered for the webinar in less than 48 hours. If you wanted to join and missed it, the recording of the webinar, sponsored by Storyboard That, is now available here and as embedded below.

Baiba Svenca's insight:

Richard Byrne (Free Technology for Teachers) has posted a useful recording of his webinar about storytelling and using StoryboardThat for creating stories with students.

There is also a great guide in PDF format to digital storytelling which you can download for free.

flea palmer's curator insight, January 20, 6:58 AM

Excellent guide about how comics can be used to create short stories or to storyboard a larger project. Links to free versions of related software too -; (for turning comic strips into movies) and (for creating multimedia ebooks - and it's also a collaborative writing platform).

ColbyccSSS's curator insight, January 20, 7:00 AM

This is worth checking out. I am always searching for new ways to reach my students.

BI Media Specialists's curator insight, January 31, 6:31 AM

This could be a very interesting program that could be used with students to review or retell what they have learned in a class.  We would love to teach this to your students and help them through their first project.  Any takers?

Memloon seems an easy tool for building stories for our photos. Could it will be used by brands? Maybe, I guess.

5 Ways for Students to Create Audio Slideshows

5 Ways for Students to Create Audio Slideshows | Digital Presentations in Education |

Somewhere between a PowerPoint presentation and a full-fledged video is the audio slideshow. Creating audio slideshows can be a good way to add meaning to slides that otherwise might not mean much without a presenter. Here are some ways that students can create audio slideshows.

Baiba Svenca's insight:

Richard Byrne from Free Technology for Teachers has put together a short list of great audio slideshow tools. I have scooped all the tools separately before but in this post there is a neat annotation about each tool and a very useful tutorial how to make a slideshow on YouTube.

Meograph: Four-dimensional storytelling

Meograph: Four-dimensional storytelling | Digital Presentations in Education |

Meograph is the easiest way to create multimedia stories. With no training you can quickly create stories about the news, history, travels, life events, and more by combining video, audio, pictures, text, links, maps, and timelines. Then share by embedding anywhere on the web, or through your favorite social network.

Baiba Svenca's insight:

Meograph is a fantastic tool for digital storytelling. You can add practically anything to your storyboard like videos, maps, images, links, narrative, to create rich multimedia content.

This is a great way to prepare educational presentations, either by a teacher or a student, in any subject and on any topic.

It's free if you use it for your own projects but it is a paid service for the classroom of 40 students, however, for $19.99/year (lite account for elementary students) it will be worth every penny. Check the plans for other options.
