Studying is not the intended function of this application, however, by uploading lecture slides as images, or taking pictures of the board during class, then uploading these images to Pixntell, would allow you to create your very own custom Flashcards. By recording your own audio notes to accompany the images, you could create short movies that could act as bitesize recap tools to support your revision, or prompts for studying, or a visual plan for your coursework. Because of the usefulness and versatility, PowerPoint has gained popularity and become a top brand of various presentation programs for institutions, individuals and organizations. It is indeed useful in making a presentation a successful one. In fact, this amazing presentation tool has a lot of advantages but like any other institutional tool, this software has some disadvantages that teachers and students must know and understand before making any investment of resources and money.

I agree the article raises some valid points and those are true no matter what software (or even manual flip charts etc) you use. There is more to giving an effective presentation than starting up PowerPoint (or any software) and it is really up to the presenter to ensure he/she captures the audience....

Different from other presentation apps, 30hands Mobile focuses on the power of storytelling. Like pages in a book, photos or images are dragged around the desktop into the order of the story. Next, the teacher or student records audio over each image. Finally, the story or presentation can be published to the device’s photo area or uploaded to a 30hands collaborative learning site.

With PowerPoint 2013 or 2010, you do not need any additional program to convert your presentation to video because this feature is integrated in the software. The article describes the steps you need to take to create a video file from your presentation. If you use PowerPoint 2007 which does not have this option, it can be done indirectly.

We’ve all endured “death by PowerPoint.” It’s a painful experience for the audience and probably not all that fun for the presenter either. To help my students deliver effective presentations—free of those deadly bullet points—I have my go-to applications.

I just gave a webinar on upgrading to PowerPoint 2013, explaining all the new features and how to use them. During the webinar, I discussed 2 features that I realized are so hard to find that I really should share them with everyone. In PowerPoint 2010 and earlier, when you chose Insert > Clip Art, you could specify that you wanted only photographs. You did that in the Clip Art task pane from the Results Should Be drop-down list, as you see here.

Slideful is a great free tool for creating slideshows, and you do not even have to register for a quick project (but you may do it if you intend to use the tool more than once). There are lots of possibilities to customize the slideshow until you get the end product that satisfies you.
