Stampsy is an interesting graphic tool currently for the iPad. It has a few necessry tools such as Headline, Text, Images, Colour Palette, Various Fonts, and best of all it is limited to 10 pages. If Powerpoints were limited to 10 pages I wonder how much real information would be lost? No doubt we'd see the important information. Check it out.

Movenote is an application for making video presentations. Its creators are a tech company in Finland. Movenote works on iPhone, iPad or Android. There is a desktop version too, see it here http://www.movenote.com/ To create a Movenote presentation, just open your documents or slides in Dropbox or Google Drive with the Movenote app and record your video comment. Mind mapping is a great way to brainstorm, make a plan, or turn ideas into the steps needed to make it real. Thankfully, there are great tools out there to help you build mind maps, organize them, and save them for later.

Strange there are only Desktop/Laptop tools listed in this Top 5. I believe a tablet is a more appropriate device for mind mapping. On my own in a declining chair as well as in a group without the screen standing up between participants. Personally i love IthoughtsHD on the iPad.

Great article answering the reader's question about how to make a slideshow look impressive. It gives suggestions and tips what to avoid and what not to forget. Learn the lessons by Steve Jobs and Seth Godin. Take note of the 5 basic slide design rules: 1. Simplify 2. Lose the cliches 3. Information needs emphasis 4. Designate elements 5. Empathy for the audience. Revise the 10/20/30 Rule, enhance your presentation by carefully choosing fonts, images, diagrams, shapes and templates. Explore lots of additional resources.

Mind mapping is a method that works for quite a lot of people. Brain storming, idea mapping, thought generation, think tanks – call it what you will. Traditionally done on large pieces of paper, why not use your iPad to create mind maps? You could use these for your own purposes, or “convert” those large flip charts into a smaller, digital version.

Research shows that mind maps (graphic organizers) are effective during all stages of learning. You can use them as an introduction to a unit, during the unit for continued note taking, or at the conclusion as a formative assessment to make sure your students truly understand the material.

A screencast is a digital recording of a computer screen with audio narration. Screencasts can include telestrator (‘John Madden pen’) annotations. Narrated slideshows include audio recordings synchronized to images without hand-drawn annotations. Screencasts and narrated slideshows can be created with two kinds of tools: 1. Browser-based: Create an account on the website and use a modern web browser like Google Chrome or FireFox to record, save and share it. 2. Client-based: Download and install software on a computing device to record and save.

Padlet is the former Wallwisher, reborn with a new name. Instead of the simple sticky-notes way now you can drag-and-drop images, videos, document files, edit background and layout, and export the wall in PDF, Excel and CSV formats. The wall can be embedded on your blog.
It is a superb tool, perfect for using with students - for giving feedback, sharing opinions, brainstorming ideas, writing arguments, commenting on a picture, expressing views, discussing proposals, displaying images, posting to-do lists etc.
