NEC also supplies a face detection and classification engine for the DOOH industry. Will be interesting to see whether, as competitor Cognitec, they'll cross the chiasm and propose that retailers would use face RECOGNITION to better target their incoming visitors. Heated debates ahead!

10-25% false positives in face RECOGNITION is certainly not acceptable for security applications, but might be acceptable for marketing ones. Now, there would need to be some clear operating procedures (eg only people standing on a certain spot and opting in) and incentives (eg faster customer service, specific discounts) for visitors to accept being identified.
