Jurjen Söhne's insight:

Life is all about perspective. Take the perspective of our planet or mother earth. This perspective changed from the moment we sent a space craft to the moon for the second time in April 1972, but this time to take pictures of our planet. From that moment our perspective of our planet was brought ino a complete new light. We were looking at a planet that is a living organism, one that is working hard to keep the world in balance all the time. We as her people, the human beings, we should respect her and BE more responsible for our actions now and forever.

As far as our knowledge and perspective goes; the Universe is infinite, not the planet that we life on - be human and do the right thing!

Jurjen Söhne's insight:

Since 2008, while IPOs have generated hundreds of billions of dollars of paper worth, Silicon Valley added just 30,000 new tech–related jobs—leaving the region with 40,000 fewer jobs than in 2001, when decades of rapid job growth came to an end.

Quick, what
Jurjen Söhne's insight:

... advertising on social media is a must, particularly on Facebook. Compared to television ads, they are pennies on the dollar and they’re reaching people at the intended time – during the entertainment mindset. This is what has made television so effective as an advertising venue and it’s what contributes to the effectiveness of social media advertising, just at a much less expensive scale.

Do you have a job? Do you like having a job? Then I have some bad news for you.
Jurjen Söhne's insight:

It’s always hard to say whether economic changes are cyclical or structural, but I think it’s fair to say that there’s a slowly accumulating consensus that technology is now destroying jobs faster than it’s creating them, and that the resulting two-track economy is here to stay…and growing steadily more disparate.

The one thing that will change the business of television
Jurjen Söhne's insight:

It’s not social media, 4k, or DVRs – and it’s definitely not 3D or second- screen apps. It’s the one thing that gives television its lifeblood and is the backbone of its DNA: TV’s very own programming – its CONTENT.

It’s about real-time storytelling across platforms and devices harnessing the power of social signals from the web and enabling multi-platform experiences.

The seventy-four year old medium has proven itself to be both timeless and resilient because it continues to evolve, adapt and, most importantly, innovate.

How lucrative are second screen companion apps for TV broadcasters?

How lucrative are second screen companion apps for TV broadcasters? | Digital Media & Entertainment | Scoop.it
As Channel 4 announce the upcoming launch of the '4Now' second screen companion app for iOS, Kate Bulkley examines the commercial models underpinning the move by broadcasters to recapture a distracted TV audience through apps...
Jurjen Söhne's insight:

"... For example, sponsors of TV programme will be able to sponsor the show page for that programme on the new app. There can be links to an advertiser's micro-site as well as the capability to do real-time, synchronised ads that are triggered on the second screen through audio recognition technology, much like ITV is doing with audio recognition ad technology app Shazam...."

If they manage to tie in the advertising model properly, it should be very lucrative... audio ACR could deliver some of that although I believe that video ACR based on IR could do the trick more accurately...

How will the industry look when all TV is connected?

How will the industry look when all TV is connected? | Digital Media & Entertainment | Scoop.it
Jurjen Söhne's insight:

How can the Smart TV (and game console/streamer box/Blu-ray) environment be rationalized so there are fewer SDKs to develop for.

Television makers have the option to maintain their own apps environments and/or back a shared SDK. Some people think HTML5 will provide the standards foundation for a ‘write once, publish everywhere’ ideal for apps developers. But there is a growing view that Google with Android, Microsoft with Windows 8 or even Apple with iOS could grasp the opportunity to become a universal OS that could sit across different makes of television.
