How to Create Awesome Infographics Without Being a Designer

How to Create Awesome Infographics Without Being a Designer | Digital Marketing Kenya | Scoop.it

If you’re anything like me, you learned how to use programs like Photoshop and Gimp out of necessity to do minor changes to photos. You might have even dabbled in some easier graphic design projects for your own website, but it takes you hours to get the image or the design looking just right and you’re left exhausted. You might even spend time looking up tutorials on how to achieve a certain effect and still have trouble re-creating it.

In short, while you do know your way around the programs like Photoshop to a certain extent, it takes you forever and there’s absolutely no way you’d call yourself a graphic designer. But then, you’re surfing around the web and you noticed some really cool infographics on things like fashion, music and food and you can’t help but wish that you could create something like that; even if it’d take you a week....

Whilst these models are all useful, don't get sucked into thinking that all models will work all the time.  Don't drown in buzzwords, concepts, famous names and complex theories...be prepared to step back, think about your team, your environment, your own skill set - and develop an approach that works for you.

9. Fornire al lettore una chiara “call to action”.

GIANFRANCO MARINI's curator insight, November 5, 3:08 PM

10 Tips for an Awesome and SEO-Friendly Blog Post

10 Tips for an Awesome and SEO-Friendly Blog Post | Digital Marketing Kenya | Scoop.it

Writing a blog post -like all other writing- is a skill. In order to keep your reader interested, you should think about structuring your text and writing in an appealing style. You should help your readers to grasp the main idea of your post by providing headings, subheadings and clear paragraphs. If people understand and like your text, they are much more likely to share, like, tweet and link to your post. And that will increase your rankings! So, in order to improve your ranking in Google, you should definitely try to maximize your writing skills!

For some, writing for SEO purposes and writing to attract and keep attracting your audience could appear as two contradictory goals. However, I totally disagree. Indeed, if you not only want a good but also an SEO-friendly blog post, your text should be written in such a way that the words you want to be found for have a very prominent place. And, using your keywords too often severely damages the readability of your text. So, you definitely should not do that!

(From the article): Adding actual and functional information to your website will give Google the idea that your website is alive. If it’s not an active website, Google will crawl it less often and it might become less appealing to Google to include the page in the search results.

Guillaume Decugis's curator insight, November 17, 8:35 PM

Understanding the progress you're making on social media can be rapidly overwhelming: not only are there chances you're on more than one social network but you're also likely to manage pages on top of profiles.

These tools are great and can help you track progress on a lot of KPI's.

Which is also why they're dangerous.

Don't get me wrong: I'm an analytical, data-driven guy so I'm a strong believer that data trumps opinions most of the time. But my point is that it's easy to get lost and confused by all the social KPI's you can track:

- followers

- retweets

- likes

- clicks

- favorites

- replies

- lists

- ....

You name it...

As Mark Schaefer put it - perhaps better than anyone else - social media engagement is not a strategy. It's only a path to building brand awareness or increasing leads and sales.

So while these tools are very useful, you still need to connect your social KPI's with ROI KPI's to demonstrate - or not - that your social media metrics' growth converts into something that has positive business returns

Very often, this will mean creating conversion hooks for your social media audience to become either a subscriber, a lead or a user - which is why you need a content hub for your social media publishing. Two trends are at work here:

1. Social Media Publishing and Content Marketing are more and more overlapping as social helps amplify content and content helps engage followers.

2. Social Selling and Inbound Marketing are driving more use of social media and more content publishing activity as a way to grow revenue.

So looking at these tools is a great opportunity to think about your overall goals and how to connect social media and content marketing in a coherent strategy to achieve ROI.

12 Facts About the Human Brain That Will Make Your Marketing More Successful

12 Facts About the Human Brain That Will Make Your Marketing More Successful | Digital Marketing Kenya | Scoop.it

Humans will remember something longer if it made them feel rather than think. They gravitate towards provocative images -- think food, sex and danger. They’re drawn toward images of faces. The color yellow puts them on edge.

Understanding how the human brain works is fascinating, but it’s also good business.

Marketing campaigns rooted in neurology are more likely to get and hold attention. And in the attention economy we are living in, where consumers have access to more emails and tweets than they could ever manage to read and digest fully, being able to get and hold attention is what separates the wheat from the chaff. That’s what gets consumers to spend.

If you are looking to get more of your marketing efforts seen, then have a look at this infographic, embedded below, generated by Nashville, Tenn.-based Emma, an email-marketing software provider. The infographic highlights 12 biological trigger mechanisms that make the human brain light up....
