How to Integrate Social Media and Blogging from The Art of Social Media

How to Integrate Social Media and Blogging from The Art of Social Media | Digital Marketing Kenya | Scoop.it

Ideas that spread, win. ~Seth Godin

A few years ago, blogging and social media were separate. Blogging was long-form, serious, and crafted. Social media was short-form, personal, and spontaneous. Some people predicted that social media would replace blogging because of declining attention spans.

Now blogging and social media not only amicably coexist; they complement each other. The trick is to use a blog to enrich your social media with long-form posts and to use social media to promote your blog.I recently did a live webinar event with Marketo about The Art of Social Media, and we’d like to share the takeaways from the presentation and a few of the follow-up questions that we answered....

Failed Customer Experiences Are Destroying Your Marketing by Douglas Karr on Marketing Technology

SDL performed a survey to explore where the single or most prominent points of customer experience (CX) failure and success happen with customers and the impacts to the business.

Perhaps the scariest result of this survey is that SDL found that many users that suffered from a bad customer experience actively tried to disparage the company every chance they could by word-of-mouth and that includes social media and other online publishing channels.

Yikes… in a connected world, customer experience failures are impacting your marketing efforts. Bad news travels fast and these incidents could overshadow any good strategies you’re deploying online.

If your LinkedIn Publisher post lacks the elements that will draw readers in, keep them on the page and inspire them take action when they are done, you are probably wasting your time.

7 SEO Mistakes Even SEO Professionals Make

7 SEO Mistakes Even SEO Professionals Make | Digital Marketing Kenya | Scoop.it
'There are a few different sides to SEO; there’s a qualitative side to SEO—the quality of your content and the strength of your link profile factor in to how your domain ranks in search engines, but this is a somewhat subjective process.

On the other hand, there’s a quantitative side to SEO—a series of features, setups, and structures your site must exhibit to maximize your chances of getting ranked. There isn’t much room for subjective debate here, and one deviation from the guidelines can cost you, even if only slightly'.

7 SEO Mistakes:

1. Sub-optimal title tags and descriptions
2. Duplicate content
3. ‘Over-optimizing’ keyword usage
4. Focusing on quantity over quality content.
5. Allowing your sitemap to become obsolete
6. Neglecting Google’s diagnostic tools
7. Failing to scale the strategy

Preventing and/or fixing these mistakes isn’t going to magically increase your rankings, and these aren’t the only mistakes you have to watch out for. SEO is an enormous, multifaceted strategy, but the more proactive and the more aware you are, the better chance you’ll have at building solid organic search visibility for the long term. As a general rule, you should always be operating under the assumption that you’re doing something wrong—double check your processes and audit your strategies regularly, as no matter how experienced or knowledgeable you are, there’s always room for improvement.
