A business must coordinate its IMC strategies well so this can deliver clear, consistent as well as competitive message about the brand and its products and services. Media objectives must be precise and must be incorporated into the companies IMC strategy. As a result the company can successfully deliver a clear and consistent message about the brand and corporate image towards their stakeholders and consumers through the correct channels.

In order to create a good business, marketers need to create a good strategy. The plan and strategy need to be established first and needs to be to the point so that B2B companies are able to separate themselves from other businesses.

I really liked this aticle as the gives an in- depth demonstration of measurable objectives. This shown how social media companies are accomplishing understanding of brands than B2B marketers. Study: How B2B and B2C marketers are approaching social media

SUMMARY: The goal of business-to-business marketers' social media strategies differs from their business-to-consumer brethren, according to an Ascend2 survey. Whereas B2B and B2C marketers name improving customer engagement as the top priority, B2B marketers care more about increasing content reach, lead quality and lead quantity. Tactics differ considerably as well, with B2C more than twice as likely to advertise on social nets, and B2B four times more likely to create whitepapers and research content.

How to Manage the Social Media Overload - ClickZ

How to Manage the Social Media Overload - ClickZ | Digital Marketing in the News | Scoop.it
Five key ways to manage your social media marketing so you can sleep at night and see social media working for you.

Digest...

In this column, I will share five key ways to manage your social media marketing so you can sleep at night and see social media working for you.

Have a social media channel plan that makes sense. As I wrote in a previous ClickZ column on the five ways to create your social media marketing plan, it is crucial for any organization to have a social media plan in place.Have a content plan that is reasonable. The key to engagement in social is delivering content that is shareable and engaging. If you have a small team, you cannot expect to push out new original content every day. You might be able to do one blog post a week, one email newsletter a month, etc. If you are small and are selling one product or service, then your content plan can be easily managed.Have the right social media resources. This is the absolute key to your social media success or failure. Social media, as many say, is now a sophisticated marketing tool and must be treated as such. The right people must be in place to manage it effectively (toward your brand goals). This means making sure you have an appropriate approval system in place with the brand manager at the top.Don't jump to every social media change - stick to your plan. With changes in social networks happening every second, it is all too easy to get thrown off track and get unfocused on your social media goals. Any changes to your social media marketing program should be tested and reviewed for driving positive results. One of the pieces of advice we provide, for example, is to set aside a small portion of resources (time and money) each quarter to test any new social initiatives.Have a social customer service process. Social media networks are the perfect breeding ground for reputation damage. Make sure that you are a step ahead of the game by managing your social media sentiment. With regular monitoring of your audiences' positive or negative mentions of your brand and by getting regular alerts on these with simple tools like Social Mention or Google Alerts or more sophisticated tools like Viralheat or HootSuite, you will more easily be able to manage how your brand is perceived in social.

Great article Danielle, like you say bombarding people with flyers in their letter boxes won't create a response from consumers but setting in place a strategic marketing strategy to work out how they can effectively target their customers, will have much more of a positive response. A marketing strategy is essential in using direct marketing as a communication tool because without it the effectiveness of the campaign is lost.
Maggie Zhang's curator insight, September 27, 2013 12:08 AM

As today, more and more companies start to realize the importance of the direct marketing. Direct mail, as one of the most important tools for direct marketing, still plays a big role communicating with the customers. The research showed that 83 percent of direct mail is opened in comparison to average email open rates of 11 percent in UK and 44 percent of consumers have visited store, purchased or enquired the product after received the direct mails from the company. The research tells us even nowadays more and more companies chose using direct email instead of direct mail, sending mail is still an important tool to reach certain consumers.

Rachel Chen's curator insight, October 3, 2014 12:00 AM

Direct mail marketing is seen as a dieing source. Within todays modern technological society, social media, email, internet etc. is seen to be such a better and more advance way to market a company or product that it has left many wondering if there is a future for mail marketing. Response is carefully measured in an attempt to take the waste out of marketing and should be part of your long-term strategy. Activity through virtually any media can be classed as direct marketing.

Facebook Graph Search: Is It The Future of SEO? | Business 2 Community

Facebook Graph Search: Is It The Future of SEO? | Business 2 Community | Digital Marketing in the News | Scoop.it

Last week, Zuckerberg officially announced a new feature – Facebook’s Graph Search – at a press conference.

This entirely social-driven search engine allows users to find people, pages and places through the likes and shares of their Facebook community.

Search engine optimization for Facebook is nothing new – in fact, it has been part of the overall SEO strategy for years. What is new, however, is the overall implication that Facebook likes, shares, and posts from friends will have on search results and how it may or may not influence buying decisions.

Will Facebook take over the search market?

facebook is now the world most famous social networking site but still they work toward IMC strategy, trying to increase user engagement and experience through facebook
Flying_Ray's comment, March 21, 2013 4:20 AM
Yeah Albert, Facebook is a good example of a company that is continually making technical improvements to try and better their users experience. Though, many users seem to reject these developments at first as it means they have to relearn how to use something which has become a part of their daily routine. It makes you wonder how Facebook could make improvements without lowering customer satisfaction? Managing such would surely help their brand equity and extend its relevance as a social network platform.
Gerry O'Beirne Dunn's comment, March 21, 2013 6:38 PM
It's almost funny to think that a social media platform like Facebook, where they would be able to get a multitude of suggestions from current users for improvements, has trouble managing improvements to their service, that users accept. Services like Google and Facebook are becoming integrated with cellphones and tablets, so its important that the improvements they make are both necessary and substantial otherwise users may not be pleased with the direction they are going.

"Where once SEO and Social were seen as divergent areas, today search engines have placed their stake firmly in the ground to ensure the singularity of search and social media.

Now people can instantly share things on social media and so linking is becoming a far less natural behavior for users of the web. So obviously Google must do something to harness social as a signal of what content people believe is worthwhile".

5 Reasons to Use Social Media for Selling

5 Reasons to Use Social Media for Selling | Digital Marketing in the News | Scoop.it

Social media: It's not just for marketing
SUMMARY: Much has been made of social media's role in marketing, but you should also use social channels to improve the sales process, writes Jeanne Rossomme, president of RoadMap Marketing. Effective social media use can help sales professionals to gain a competitive advantage, better understand their customers and influence prospects early in the buying process. This approach allows you to "help shape the solution to the problem rather than being forced to respond as just another 'vendor' later in the sales process -- where you are evaluated largely on price," she writes.

Search is the new navigation, so goes the mantra today – and that means search, in all of its forms, has become a key ingredient for the success of any online business.
