How cross-media storytelling is about to change the way that we consume and interact with content

How cross-media storytelling is about to change the way that we consume and interact with content | Digital Marketing & Communications | Scoop.it

Defiance, a science fiction television series that launched alongside a massively multiplayer online video game earlier this month, is an experiment in cross-media storytelling.

The promise is that by launching the property across two separate mediums, audiences will be able to engage and experience the narrative from two distinct, unique perspectives, thereby increasing their engagement and commitment to the franchise.

The scope and ambition of Defiance are huge. Both the online shooter and episodic series were planned and created simultaneously, offering both sides a wealth of opportunities to weave the two together in new and unexpected ways

Social Media and Link Building

Social Media and Link Building | Digital Marketing & Communications | Scoop.it

Since Google introduced the Panda and Penguin many people believe that link building, and SEO for that matter, are dead. Are they? No, this is certainly not the case. Here is why websites that are currently ranked on the first page of Google are there: they have strong authority links. They wouldn’t be there if they had weak, low value links.

However with the shift in Google algorithms switching from page rank to domain authority, there are definitely changes in the SEO world. There is a massive emphasis on content and social signals. With that in mind, here are some useful tips on how social media can help you build a strong backbone for your link building.

Love this part: "The problem with marrying social media analytics with management information is that in many cases, these other data sources are siloed within different departments. Big data may be useful, but it is also fragmented and hard to reassemble. As social media analytics become more sophisticated, the future barriers to use maybe [sic] as organisational as they are technical."

Transformation in digital marketing: five ways to work

Microsoft Study: Employees More Productive With Social Tools Yet Companies Still Block Them (Infographic) | Digital Marketing & Communications | Scoop.it
II’ve been thinking lately of corporate America’s social lobotomy. Its disconnect between the wants and the want-nots. According to a recentMicrosoft survey conducted by research firm Ipsos, nearly 50% of employees believe social tools make them more productive while more than 30% of companies restrict the use or undervalue them. For me, this is a form of social malpractice perpetuated by the cold, hard but secure hand of command and control management..
