Graph connectivity is of special interest in networking, search, shortest path and many other applications.

Strongly connected directed graph has a path from all vertices to all vertices.

Strongly connected components (SCC) are the strongly connected subgraphs.

Google open sourced a new package for the R statistical computing software that’s designed to help users infer whether a particular action really did cause subsequent activity. Google has been using the tool, called CausalImpact, to measure AdWords campaigns but it has broader appeal.

Google announced on Tuesday a new open source tool that can help data analysts decide if changes to products or policies resulted in measurable change, or if the change would have happened anyway. The tool, called CausalImpact, is a package for the R statistical computing software, and Google details it in a blog post.

According to blog post author Kay H. Brodersen, Google uses the tool — created it, in fact — primarily for quantifying the effectiveness of AdWords campaigns. However, he noted, the same method could be used to gauge everything from whether adding a new feature caused an increase in app downloads to questions involving events in medical, social or political science.

Votre service clients doit être plus social que jamais ! | Digital marketing | Scoop.it

Platform Thinking: The Future of Work

Platform Thinking: The Future of Work | Digital marketing | Scoop.it
...This is the formula for building a business: You figure out how you are creating value. You identify a set of operations that repeatedly create value. You figure out a way to efficiently conduct these operations repeatedly. There are three broad ways that businesses conduct these operations repeatedly and get things done:Get employees to do the work.Get algorithms to do the work.Get users to do the work. Let’s think through the problem of navigating the web for the most relevant information of the day. Three companies try to solve this in three very different ways:Yahoo: A bunch of editors decide the best content for the day.Google News: Algorithms decide the top news of the day.Twitter: Users’ tweets and retweets decide the top news of the day. For those of us who read the earlier article on the three broad models for problem-solving, here’s the interesting part. These three approaches correspond exactly with the three models for problem solving....

How to measure thought leadership?

How to measure thought leadership? | Digital marketing | Scoop.it

"Marketing through thought leadership is totally in right now. It makes sense: Every business wants to be perceived as a leader, respected by customers and envied by competition".

Via Marc Rougier

Marc Rougier's curator insight, September 15, 9:30 AM

"Thought Leadership doesn't directly aim to sell, but educate, advise and in some case entertain", says Molli Bucini. However, for professionals and businesses, this is a marketing action.

There is no KPI yet directly measuring influence, reputation or Thought Leadership - no magic button on Google Analytics either. However, the basic Content Marketing analytics must be tracked:

  • repeat visitors
  • bounce rate
  • mention and share
  • and eventually in-site conversion.

All of them, and more, discussed in this post.

Reminds me of the situation of Social Media marketing some years ago: professionals and businesses realized they needed to be active on SM, before they could actually measure their impact (well... most professionals and businesses - this was not obvious for all, actually). Detailed ROI analysis matures as we progress, it's a step by step process. But we should not wait for a mathematical proof before we demonstrate our Thought Leadership through a relevant Content Marketing strategy.

Lori Wilk's curator insight, September 15, 11:20 AM

Becoming a thought leader is not something that just happens. It takes work and strategic planning to achieve. The perfect pathway is not spelled out for anyone to follow. Content curation should definitely be part of one's strategy to become a thought leader in their industry.

How big data and analytics are making retailers more customer-centric

How big data and analytics are making retailers more customer-centric | Digital marketing | Scoop.it

Retailers today have to face a new breed of empowered customers who are always connected and have more information on products than sometimes even the retailers do. Being customer-centric is the new competitive differentiation for retailers today

Luca Naso's curator insight, September 12, 8:40 AM

A recent IBM Institute for Business Value study notes that leaders are 166 percent more likely to make most decisions based on data, and 75 percent of leaders cite growth as the key source of value from analytics.

In the new IDC retail insights study: “Business Strategy: Big Data and Analytics Lay the Foundation for Revenue Growth,” it is noted that, in 2013, approximately 50 percent of retailers were using big data and analytics to inform pricing strategies, market intelligence and customer acquisition, with more retailers to join in next two to three years.

The various functions of a retail business, such as marketing, merchandising, supply chain, operations and customer service, must wear different hats at different times and should think about how others perceive their brands, as well as what they can do to enhance customer centricity.

Here are some examples of how IBM helped four famous retailers (Luxottica, BestBuy, Elie Tahari and Macys)

Is Predictive the New New Thing in Marketing Technology? | Lattice Engines | Digital marketing | Scoop.it
Digest... Though it may feel foreign to marketers, predictive analytics can uncover fresh insights about your prospects and customers. It can also accurately predict buyer intent, in turn helping you better understand how customers will respond to messages, offers and interactions in ways that were previously not possible. By leveraging data science to make sense of all the data available, the savviest companies are marketing and selling more intelligently. Predictive analytics is emerging as central to the modern marketing organization. While the concept of predictive marketing is now emerging as the next frontier, the truth is that the technology has been around for some time. Lattice entered the space back in 2006 and with the market now catching up, some of the best names in venture capital are jumping in and investing in the opportunity. __________________ ► Receive a FREE daily summary of The Marketing Technology Alert directly to your inbox. #Google matrix analysis of directed networks | #datascience #algorithms

#Google matrix analysis of directed networks | #datascience #algorithms | Digital marketing | Scoop.it

Via luiy
more...
luiy's curator insight, September 2, 7:39 AM

This review describes matrix tools and algorithms which facilitate classification and information retrieval from large networks recently created by human activity. The Google matrix formed by links of the network has typically a huge size. Thus, the analysis of its spectral properties including complex eigenvalues and eigenvec- tors represents a challenge for analytical and numerical methods. It is rather surprising, but the class of such matrices, belonging to the class of Markov chains and Perron-Frobenius operators, was practically not inves- tigated in physics. Indeed, usually the physical prob- lems belong to the class of Hermitian or unitary ma- trices. Their properties had been actively studied in the frame of Random Matrix Theory (RMT) (Akemann et al., 2011; Guhr et al., 1998; Mehta, 2004) and quantum chaos (Haake, 2010). The analytical and numerical tools developed in these research fields allowed to understand many universal and peculiar features of such matrices in the limit of large matrix size corresponding to many-body quantum systems (Guhr et al., 1998), quantum comput- ers (Shepelyansky , 2001) and a semiclassical limit of large quantum numbers in the regime of quantum chaos (Haake, 2010). In contrast to the Hermitian problem, the Google matrices of directed networks have complex eigenvalues.
