Talented Illustrator and Wall Mural Guru Geo Law took up residency at Digital Gurus’ new office last week and hand drew the DG story across our meeting room walls. We were lucky enough to find Geo who hails from Sheffield via our tweet pre-Christmas and he didn’t disappoint. Capturing key moments of our DG history from Vegas, to Paris, to the Olympics to our numerous office moves – pretty much everything was there.
Digital Gurus's insight:
I think the most amazing aspect was watching Geo draw straight on to the wall freestyle with permanent markers and waiting for him to mess up… but it never happened. Make sure you follow him @getaloadofgeo and show him some love. He was so good we’re getting him back in to do the rest of our office! Thank you Geo.
Here at Digital Gurus HQ we have seen a massive increase in the amount of companies and agencies recruiting for Community Managers and teams of Community Managers. With a pool of talented candidates out there, how can you stand out from the crowd and be a top class Community Manager?
Digital Gurus's insight:
In essence, your job is to keep conversations on topic and make sure people aren’t attacking each other. If either of those things happen and community members are stepping in to shut it down and diffuse the situation, then let the conversation run its natural course and don’t step in unless you think you have to.
Here at Digital Gurus, we’ve moved… again. Thankfully its not because we’ve not been paying our rent, but actually because we keep outgrowing our space. Having started in Tolworth in 2008, then moving to Oxford Circus, Bond Street and most recently London Bridge we now find ourselves on Silicon Roundabout in Old Street just a 30 second walk from the station. We hope we’ve now found our roots in a brand new office freshly built in 2012 and look forward to welcoming both candidates and clients down here over the coming years.
Digital Gurus were delighted to be asked by the guys at the Drum to sponsor the latest top 100 digital agencies list this year. The exclusive launch party was released at AdTech London a couple of weeks ago, watch the video of Co-Founder Farooq Mohammed speaking about the impact the Top 100 have had on the industry and why we were so happy to be a part of this once again. Digital Gurus are proud to work with some of the very best agencies London has to offer and if you want to see the full list take a look here – Drum Digital 100
2012 was such an action-packed year for Digital Gurus. New faces, new offices, the Olympics and so much more…. here’s a quick recap on what it was like being a Guru last year.
We started the year as a 22 man squad and by the end had clocked an awesome 37 (and still counting).
The team now cover permanent and freelance recruitment across the following areas: Creative, Tech, PM, IA, Mobile, Client Services, Media Performance, Ad Technology and Sales.
Digital Gurus's insight:
Thanks to Pixelgroup our new site went live – a slick user interface with a robust job search feature that allows you to find the best fit role in minimal time (we set the bar with our first site and the new one hasn’t let us down).
2012 also saw us wave goodbye to our London Bridge HQ (we just couldn’t squeeze any more people in) and hello to brand spanking new offices in Old Street, a great open plan space right near the aptly named ‘silicon roundabout’.
DG sponsored various events such as the all new Glug London in Shoreditch Town hall (next one in Feb) and the BIMA Awards where we had the pleasure of handing the Agency of the Year award on stage to the eventual winners – AIS London. Personally, one of the proudest moments came when DG were named Recruitment agency of the Year at the MARA’s. It was great to receive a some recognition for the hard work the team have put in all year.
In December we saw DG open their hearts and wallets after hearing presents for the Children at Great Ormond Street hospital were stolen just before Christmas, so that same day the DG elves headed to Hamleys and hand delivered over 15 sacks filled with toys to the Charity.
For all our clients and candidates, a sincere thank you for your support so far. Feel free to come and visit us at our new address 10 East Road, Linen Court, N1 6AD or give one of the guys a call to catch up on our new line – 020 7253 1054. The new kitchen has tea and coffee on tap and with more space our table tennis table is back in action – challengers welcome!
With one chapter closed, 2013 already has some MAJOR news in the pipeline… so stay tuned for further updates…
In our first ever entry to an awards show saw us nominated for 4 awards, Agency of the Year, Best Contract Agency, Best Large Agency and our very own Elliot Harrison was up for Consultant of the Year.
Here’s what the MARA judges said when announcing our achievement -
“The winner of this category is always the agency that the judges feel has demonstrated the best overall recruitment strategy throughout the past 12 months. This includes employee development, client and candidate engagement, branding, networking and, of course, tangible revenue production. This year the judges voted for the agency that most consistently featured throughout the judging process as both a thought-leader and beacon for the contemporary recruitment model.”
