There are plenty of fundraising solutions that leverage social media, relying on fundraisers to tweet, share, and post their fundraising pages to their social networks. When will social referrals become more significant than search for fundraising?

Remember last September when Facebook announced all those changes to individual profiles, including the timeline? One of the changes was that your friends and fans can do more than “Like” or “Comment” on Facebook. Three new actions were announced at the time, including: Read, Watch, Listen to help people better understand what their friends are doing online. Facebook called it the “Open Graph” and the pr people called “A revolution to the whole meaning of listening to music together or family T.V.” You can read more about how it works from the Facebook developer notes.

UK Fundraising's Howard Lake has published a new guide offering practical tips on how to fundraise using Facebook. I was surprised to find very few fundraising-specific guides for charities and nonprofits in using Facebook, so I've pulled together 40 tips (I've squeezed in 43 in fact) based on what I've learned and shared over the last few years. They're practical tips, almost all of which can be implemented quickly and at very low cost.
"Pinterest, a two-year-old social bookmarking site that lets users collect and share things they like on the web, is driving increasingly significant amounts of traffic to retailers’ websites." So, which charities and nonprofits have their online shop product images on the site? Or images depicting their fundraising 'products' e.g. specific projects, child sponsorship, membership?
