Google launches Toontastic 3D, a new app for kids to animate with

Google launches Toontastic 3D, a new app for kids to animate with | digital divide information | Scoop.it
RIP Kid Pix.
Bonnie Bracey Sutton's insight:
This is fun AND easy...Google just launched a new storytelling app that will help kids create their own cartoons. It's called Toontastic 3D. Kids can use it to make animations using a set of built-in characters or create their own using the app's editor and camera. They can record sound and create a story, which is then saved as a 3D video. A demo video for the app shows how you can draw a character in a 2D space, basically how you would in any paint program. The character is then rendered in 3D and inserted into a campfire scene.

How Pearl Harbor changed Japanese-Americans

How Pearl Harbor changed Japanese-Americans | digital divide information | Scoop.it

"In February 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, sending 120,000 people from the US west coast into internment camps because of their ethnic background. Two-thirds of them were born in America. The treatment of Japanese-Americans during the World War Two was denounced by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 as 'a policy motivated by racial prejudice, wartime hysteria, and a failure of political leadership.' He signed the Civil Liberties Act to compensate more than 100,000 people of Japanese descent who were incarcerated in internment camps."
