Social Media Doesn’t Have to Be This Way

Six years ago, I began a love affair with the potential that social media could offer. While I’d been online for much longer, meandering from blogging to forums and gaming, it was only when I started really getting into what MySpace, Facebook and Twitter offered that I saw something bigger than just talking about random stuff. I saw the opportunity for everyone to truly have a platform to share from. I saw the opportunity for business to both understand and connect better with their audience.
Deb Nevins's insight:
I liked this article because it put out there what many of us already know; there are a lot of people jumping on bandwagons out there. To do social right, you need to keep it real.

Dumb & dumber. Where marketing is headed.

Dumb & dumber. Where marketing is headed. | Digital_Debbie Social Media Monitoring | Scoop.it

I recently received a flyer in the post from SouthernElectric.  It’s a classic example of how, in recent years, a huge number of people in marketing, from the creatives to the clients, have utterly lost the plot – the industry is now full of people who really don’t have a clue about what they are supposed to do.

Is that a red herring I see before me?

Via Level343
Deb Nevins's insight:

This is so true. The agency teams seem to be getting younger and younger and the time put in to quality work just isn't there any more. I have seen more than one brand with a marketing campaign that made absolutely no sense.

10 sensor innovations driving the digital health revolution

10 sensor innovations driving the digital health revolution | Digital_Debbie Social Media Monitoring | Scoop.it

This year IBM dedicated its Five in Five series (an annual list of five technologies that are likely to advance dramatically) solely to sensors.

Digital sensors of the touch, sight, hearing, taste and smell kind along with their potential are all profiled by IBM Sensor technology is going through a renaissance as companies develop smart and innovative new ways to track data using them.

Sensor innovation is in-part driving the Digital Health Revolution as digital health companies find ingenius ways to integrate them in to apps, devices and other peripherals. The smartphone will play an increasing important role in all of this as they go from having six built-in sensors currently to having sixteen in the next five years.

If these predictions are correct then the next five years will be half-a-decade of sensor proliferation meaning the Digital Health Ecosystem will grow exponentially. In the meantime though there are already a plethora of digital health sensors in use or in the pipeline that are helping people improve and, in some instances, save lives.
