The Copyright Office Wants You to Explain Why the DMCA Is So Bad

The Copyright Office Wants You to Explain Why the DMCA Is So Bad | Digital Culture | Scoop.it
The DMCA takedown and counter-takedown procedures has been a mess for a while now. And it didn’t look like anyone who could fix it cared to. Which made it a surprise when the Copyright Office asked for public comment on the issue on New Year’s Eve.
nukem777's insight:

A joke, right? This, from the "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you crowd"? They haven't listened to any tech's input in the past 10 years, except for the ones at NSA, why would they listen now, why would you bother? We'll stop them on the other side, when they try and pass more hokey legislation.

Space Cowboys and Cybernauts in Time and Space

Space Cowboys and Cybernauts in Time and Space | Digital Culture | Scoop.it

It included cowgirls as well, but the Steve Miller song Space Cowboy from the album Brave New World was pretty much iconic back then and tagged a whole generation of space cadets, people who…

Virtual reality fans have been debating which company's headset offers the better technology and library of games.
nukem777's insight:

"With virtual-reality fans on the fence as to which headset to buy, could the Vive Pre's camera be enough to convince people to opt for HTC's headset instead of the Oculus Rift?

After trying it out first-hand, I think the answer is yes."

LG's New 4K OLED TVs Are Just Four Credit Cards Thick | Digital Culture | Scoop.it

Despite the CES Hype, It’s Better to Wait on That 4K TV

Despite the CES Hype, It’s Better to Wait on That 4K TV | Digital Culture | Scoop.it
Advice for those thinking about buying a 4K television, also called Ultra HD, which has a higher resolution than the current high-definition 1080p TV sets.
nukem777's insight:

You are also going to need 1gig cable service, new routers and modems to keep up with the speeds, new cables and a 240 refresh rate.

Hold off until October of this year, and do your research...add $500 to the price of the TV (only get Sony or Samsung -- tied into PS4 if you are a gamer) to cover all the above stuff you are going to need. This doesn't come cheap. And surprisingly LG is making the best of these for home, 'at the moment'.

Add a pair of Occulus Rift's and you are gone, gone, gone!

nukem777's insight:

Geez, wonder why? Pissed off all the 4S owners with the iOS9 update (purposely killed them to force upgrades to the 6's IMHO)

The watch sucks! As soon as you put it on, you already know you should have waited for 2.0. Got suckered, not great customer relations there.

The iPad Pro is a joke. You can't carry it, does anyone make a bag for that thing. And at those prices, and still with NO expandable memory you can get a laptop or desktop. What WERE they thinking? Would have liked to have been in the room when they gave the green light for that project, just to see what they were smoking.

That's 3 strikes and you're out, by my count.
