What If the Internet Really Isn't Social? What If It's the Opposite? | Big Think

What If the Internet Really Isn't Social? What If It's the Opposite? | Big Think | Digital Culture | Scoop.it
We have a relationship with the Internet that influences and, in some cases, drives our behaviors. Some would call it an addiction.
nukem777's insight:

+ spending hours online
+ becoming irritable when interrupted during web use
+ feeling guilty about how much time is spent online
+ isolation from family and friends due to excessive online activity
+ a sense of euphoria when online and panic when offline

UpDeliver 's curator insight, January 18, 1:33 PM

There is much truth to this. The story of the family not interacting at dinner is probably much more common than we would initially think. The internet has revolutionized the world in many ways and is an integral part in all sectors of humanity.

But there comes a time when we need to take a break from texting, cyber socializing, blogging etc. in order to breathe the fresh air and connect back with nature and other humans. It's sad, but there is hope. So long as we incorporate technology/ real interaction balance into our daily lives. Everything in life is a struggle, this subject is no different.
