Just had an awesome week attending IFLA WLIC 2013. For those of you who did not get to attend this congress in Singapore, do check out the IFLA trend report. It is interesting to learn that one of the trends identified is people's reliance on algorithm. The report questions the role of libraries when it seems like algorithm has all the answers. I say time for librarian-curators to stand up.

This entire issue of SLANZA magazine is devoted to digital content curation. The article by Peter Murgatroyd is particularly insightful as it talks about the use of content curation as a way to market libraries. If commercial companies are able to leverage on content curation to market themselves, librarians should not shy away from content curation.

Libraries have always been trusted as a source of knowledge and this reputation should continue to be upheld in the digital world.
