Case Study: ZipCar increases contest submissions by 717% by moving off of Facebook | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

"When the ZipCar team decided to stop hosting contests on Facebook and move them onto a dedicated landing page on the website, it was to move from a social media campaign to a socially connected campaign. The change, implemented for the "Test Drive" Paris contest, drew in more extensive and creative submissions and increased entries by 717%."

Another example that goes to prove that your digital property is more important than any other third-party platform!

This is how you use your employees to build brand advocacy... | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

Daniel Roth, Linkedin's executive editor, shares what he's discovered from the 50,000 posts on the site published every week.

Honestly, this article is a gem!

Roth talks about how Dell (one of my favorite brands) has used its employees to build advocacy via content that matters to them. This is almost unheard of in the corporate world.

Executives, HR directors, PR pros see only potential pitfalls—a vocal employee is a poachable employee; someone sharing sharp takes can also share sensitive information; what if employees are boring or, worse, interesting? Better to just to keep the barn door firmly shut.

The approach seems safe. But it’s not. Staying silent means not being part of the dynamic business conversation that is happening everywhere around the world.

Here's a 4 step process for taking complex data and shaping it into a story so it is easy to understand. Really, these 4 steps are all about how to think better about the data so you can better find and share its story.

In reality, there is a lot more to visualizing data and combining that with good storytelling skills. But these 4 steps lay a strong foundation for getting started. There's a video for sale on the site that suggests a more thorough treatment. I have no affiliation with it, and you'll need to check it out if you are interested.

I'm pleased however, that we are starting to get much better a data storytelling and getting good advice now about how to do it.

Framing digital capabilities for staff | Helen Beetham Blog | JiscInvolve.org | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

Recent consultations by Jisc have highlighted the need for institutions to take a strategic approach to the digital capabilities of their staff. We hear from students – for example at the recent Change Agents Network event – that teachers who are confident with digital tools make a real difference to their learning.

We know that world-class research depends on the use of digital data and that researchers need to collaborate virtually and communicate their ideas through digital media. When staff are comfortable in their digital environment they can work more effectively. Their teaching and research has more impact, they are better plugged in to subject networks and they are well placed to take on new challenges.

The Digital Capabilities challenge was scoped over the course of several consultation events, as Sarah Davies explains below.

Story Starter Tool | Ozge Karaoglu

Story Starter Tool | Ozge Karaoglu | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

"Scholastic Story Starters is an online machine that randomly generates a story starter for you. You choose your theme, write your name and grade. Then spin the wheel to get story prompts. Your story starter can be ‘Write three wishes of a giant milkmaid whose tears turn things to stone.’ or ‘Write a mysterious message to a pleasant lion that has a jet pack.’ If you can like, you spin smaller wheels to change different parts of your story starter.  The tool, then, lead you to start writing your story."
