The 10 Best Corporate Blogs in the World

The 10 Best Corporate Blogs in the World | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

My reaction to most company blogs: “Blah, Blah and Double Blah!”

I recently taught a class on corporate blogging at the amazing social media marketing graduate program at Rutgers University.  In my research for the class, I pored through hundreds of websites looking for examples of the best company blogs in the world.

Amid the coal pile that is the state of corporate blogging today, I did manage to find a few diamonds that don’t bore to tears with pronouncements, promotions and product announcements (the Killer P’s)....

Make Your Brand Story Meaningful

Make Your Brand Story Meaningful | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

How to get the audience to care.

It's not easy for brands to get their message across in a world of highly fragmented media and dangerously short attention spans. The brands that are able to forge connections with their customers are the ones who are the most gifted storytellers.  What makes a story good enough to captivate and motivate your audience?

The best stories are designed to get the audience to care.

Stories that start with "why" — that articulate the organization's purpose and passion — are able to get more consumers tuning in to the brand and what it stands for. For instance, Intel's "Sponsors of Tomorrow", Apple's "Think Different", and Google's "Don't Be Evil" taglines helped to articulate their corporate strategy, consequently getting people to care about and subscribe to their brand promise.  Nescafe Philippines decided to tap into the strong community spirit of the Filipinos, and articulate that "why" around the passion point of music. This evolved into Nescafe Philippines' "Red Mug Sessions," which served up warm stories and inspiring music over great coffee

Curation Examples: Videry, a Collection of Video Clips For Web Designers

Curation Examples: Videry, a Collection of Video Clips For Web Designers | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

Via Robin Good
Robin Good's curator insight, June 17, 1:14 PM

Videry is a great example of video curation at work.

Videry is a hand-curated collection of over 30 great video clips for web designers.

The beauty and value of this collection, in the context of curation is in the following:

  • The quality of the clips selected

  • A clean, and simple layout - content over looks
The essence is in the selection made and that's why it needs to stand out.

  • The essential info is upfront - video thumbnails + title + description
    no other distractions.

  • A Pinterest-like simmetrical visual layout that allows easy scanning of the page

Where it could do better:

  • Titles: no personalization for context - titles in the collection are exactly as the originals - the curator here could have improved and contextuaized titles for this collection, while keeping a good reference, visible to everyone, of the original one.

  • Descriptions: these are the original video descriptions. No additions, no opinion, no contextualization. The curator could have written his own descriptions from these in the context of this collection, while leaving the original descriptions as an extra option (since they are all already accessible under the original video location).

  • No visibile authorship for the collection.

P.S.: I think this clean design used in this collection is so effective that I wish there was a service prividing the ability to create curated video collections with such information design elegance.

The Future Of PR Is A Marketing Smoothie

The Future Of PR Is A Marketing Smoothie | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

PR packs power in the nutritional wholesomeness that is today's marketing smoothie. Today's hybrid PR is blended with the whole -- integrated marketing.Back in the day, public relations, advertising and marketing were firmly divided in their respective silos and disciplines. We in public relations were often referred to for real in jest as the “bastard step children” of marketing.

Often we’d sit in an integrated meeting of the disciplines and keep our traps shut until we tossed out a bit of value-added strategy into the mix while our peers across the aisle glared nicely.Today, the blended nature of marketing has public relations professionals up in arms. Some are balking at the integration of PR so cohesively into marketing. In short, these people are having an identity crisis....

Big Data Techniques for Analyzing Large Data Sets – Infographic

Big Data Techniques for Analyzing Large Data Sets – Infographic | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

Until the emergence of “Big Data”, data were mainly treated locally in warehouses of several structured databases. Gradually, these data sources became diversified.

Analysts are projecting the future of customer data. Several points of attention are highlighted. While most companies collect, store and analyze data, majority of them are struggling with their big project data and are struggling to meet IT challenges associated with the use of this framework.

Newscientis, with Microsoft, released an infographic on how big data techniques seek to gain insight by analyzing large data sets. The proliferation of sources associated with 3V (volume, variety, velocity) have contributed to big data’s recent growth. Data is coming in a growing variety of new and often unstructured forms such as text, video and sensor reading.

By 2020, all the digital data created, replicated and consumed per year will reach 40,000 Exabytes. The connected devices including pocket calculators, personnel computer, mobile phones, servers and mainframes and videogame consoles have contributed more than 10 million instructions per second.
