Medium Rocks: New Mobile Micro-Blogging Tool Is A MUST USE via @Scenttrail

Medium Rocks: New Mobile Micro-Blogging Tool Is A MUST USE via @Scenttrail | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

Medium Cool
Why do we need another blogging tool? Reasonable question. If Medium was simply and only another micro-blogging and content curation tool then the answer would be in the negative.

We don’t need another blogging tool no matter how cool, efficient and mobile-ready the new tool’s User Interface. That’s why Medium isn’t a micro-blogging tool. Medium is a community forming NOW and that has many benefits including:

* Grow with the network while not as crowded as Medium will become.

* Fill the hole between your blogs and social nets.

* Curate across your owned properties easily into one place.

* Create and curate mobile ready content.

Make All of Your Website Content Editable In-line with Snaplive

Robin Good's curator insight, September 8, 2013 3:02 PM

Snaplive is an up and coming free, open-source CMS which allows any publisher to edit the contents of its web site directly on the page, without needing to log in to a backend system.

Snaplive works perfectly with WordPress and with the existing theme you are using and not only provides editing functions but it also allows you to add / create new content sections very easily.

"Virtually ANY existing website or theme can become a Snaplive-powered editable website in a matter of minutes.

All you need to do is add an HTML5 attribute to the div that will contain editable content."

My comment: I haven't tried Snaplive but the video is quite self-explanatory. While not the first system that attempts to provide in-line, on-the-page content editing and creation, the fact that that is free and open-source, that it can work with most any existing web sites and with any WordPress theme makes it very interesting for many a web publisher. If installing and configuring is as easy as it is promised, then this could be a godsend both for many website designers as well as for their clients.

My compliments to Niccolò Broggi for designing such a cool, elegant and useful tool.

Currently in private alpha.

Aesop Story Engine: An Open Source WordPress Plugin For Storytelling

Aesop Story Engine: An Open Source WordPress Plugin For Storytelling | Digital Brand Marketing | Scoop.it

The Aesop Story Engine is one of the most beautiful tools for WordPress that I’ve seen in a long time. Named for Aesop, the master story teller whose fables are woven into our cultural consciousness, this engine provides a powerful suite of multimedia storytelling tools. The Aesop Story Engine plugin was created to be a foundation for building feature-rich, interactive, long-form storytelling themes for WordPress.

The engine powers the Aesop Hosted Storytelling site where users can create stories for free. The Aesop development team has released it as an open source WordPress plugin, making it possible for you to add the same storytelling capabilities to your own website....

Sarah Googing looks at a very interesting storytelling tool and WordPress plugin. Though it will need further technical refining, it's beautifully designed, feature rich and definitely a tool to watch and try out.
