The Top 5 Board Games That Really Will Ruin Friendships | Digital Archeology | Scoop.it
One piece of trivia orbits modern board gaming like a dark, sexy star. Someone who doesn't really play them will always have heard from their friend, who heard it from another friend, that games like Game of Thrones or Battlestar Galactica are mean.

Transmedia and Reality TV – Transmedia Storyteller

Transmedia and Reality TV – Transmedia Storyteller | Digital Archeology | Scoop.it

One of the interesting paradoxes about the reality TV is that more a show is less like reality, so the better the ratings. By this I mean, less like our reality. Shows like The Real Housewives of… may be set in real places and show real people but their lifestyle and dramas are likely to be a million miles away from any reality that we’re familiar with.

Not User Experience, per se... However, very relevant to DESIGNING EXPERIENCES!!!

Terry Patterson's comment, September 29, 2013 4:59 PM
This was a fascinating article, Michael. And you're right, not specifically UX, but very much related to it and how compelling storytelling using these techniques would make a notable and unforgettable user experience.

Why Gone Home Is So Immersive

Why Gone Home Is So Immersive | Digital Archeology | Scoop.it
Binary Racoon's insight:

Gone Home, a first person exploration game from indie developer The Fullbright Company, is getting a lot of attention lately, owing largely to how wrapped up in it players tend to get. The game plops you into the role of a young woman returning from a long trip to find that her family's new house is empty. There's just a cryptic note from her younger sister that kicks off your investigation into what the hell happened.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's curator insight, September 16, 2013 12:54 AM

Very interesting Article.

"But there is still resistance from filmmakers. Cage cited directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas who publicly stated it's impossible to tell a story that is controlled by a player. "It's interesting to see that maybe they're not fully aware of what this industry is really doing," he said. "Because actually we are making it, we are creating interactive storytelling."

How Viewers Can Change Storytelling

More on the changing role of the viewer, this time from the perspective of Walking Dead etc.

Hans Heesterbeek's curator insight, September 15, 2013 9:26 PM

What we can learn from this chat with Gale Anne Hurd is that:

Storytelling today means not only telling but even listeningThrough ancillary elements of the project you can have useful information about the viewersSocial networks sentiment is a true source of information better than any researchViewers join the storytelling and in a near future will become storytellers

Viewership is as changing as storytelling and rules must be broken even when the most experienced producers are attempting to tell the “perfect story”.
