Enter cinemagraphs.

What is it, exactly? It’s a hybrid of a photo and video. You can also refer to it as an animated GIF, but don’t let the negative GIF stereotype destroy your perspective.

Seeing Is Believing: Visual vs. Linear Content | Digital and Graphic Design Tips, Tools and Tricks in Higher Education | Scoop.it

"In order for our learners to see how designing information changes how it is viewed, the students this year placed their visual infographics side-by-side with their linear notes to see the transformation. It was the “ah ha” moment, when they could examine how the delivery of content mattered and how the deliberate choices in font hierarchy, color selection, and placement changed the way others perceived the ideas."

Bad PowerPoint design may be just as detrimental to your presentation as smelling like a horse. When you have poorly designed slides, a few things happen: your professionalism is questioned (because you essentially tell the people looking at your PowerPoint that you don't know how to create professional work); your audience members get distracted as they toggle between looking at your bad design and listen to what you're actually saying (and, in the end, they don't really ingest either); and you

Don't Bore Me with Your Presentation, Inform Me | EDUCAUSE.edu | Digital and Graphic Design Tips, Tools and Tricks in Higher Education | Scoop.it

We have all been to presentations in the office, or even at conferences, where we feel as if the speaker is as soothing as a nice warm glass of milk or a fuzzy blanket. The hardest part of being in such an audience is staying awake. If the audience is fighting the sandman to listen to a presentation, then no one is really listening. The people listening to you when you give a presentation are there for a reason: either to learn something new or because they were required to be there by management. Regardless of the reason for their attendance, your job is to give them information they can use.
