Doctors implant lab-grown vagina #regenerative medicine

Doctors implant lab-grown vagina #regenerative medicine | DigitAG& journal | Scoop.it

Four women have had new vaginas grown in the laboratory and implanted by doctors in the US.

A tissue sample and a biodegradable scaffold were used to grow vaginas in the right size and shape for each woman as well as being a tissue match.

They all reported normal levels of "desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction" and painless intercourse.

Experts said the study, published in the Lancet, was the latest example of the power of regenerative medicine.

'I feel fortunate'

In each woman the vagina did not form properly while they were still inside their mother's womb, a condition known as vaginal aplasia.

Current treatments can involve surgically creating a cavity, which is then lined with skin grafts or parts of the intestine.

A BRIEF GUIDE TO THE IDEAS AND ARTEFACTS OF COMPUTATIONAL ARTIFICIAL LIFE
Alan Dorin, Animaland, 2014
This guide provides broad coverage of computational Artificial Life, a field encompassing the theories and discoveries underpinning the invention and study of technology-based living systems. It is targetted at students of all ages who are new to Artificial Life or are hoping to gain a broad understanding of its themes.
The book focusses specifically on Artificial Life realised in computer software. Topics include:
• pre-history of Artificial Life
• artificial chemistry
• artificial cells
• organism development
• locomotion
• group behaviour
• evolution
• ecosystem simulation

Biological Bits includes animations and interactive software for experimentation with key processes. Simulations are included to allow exploration of cellular automata, developmental models, group behaviour and ecosystem simulation to aid in illustrating the text. The book can be read cover-to-cover as a general introduction to Artificial Life, or it can serve as a textbook for university or advanced high-school courses.

Scientists Create Cybernetic Links Between People—by DJing

From a government to a society, to a DJ and an audience....to a Master/Mistress and a "slave", it's all the same stuff.

It's a dialectic; a dialogue without words.  It's motion, it's energy, action, perception....everything that relates to a human(s)-human(s) relationship.

It's amazing to me that so many of the people who hold power at the moment seem to have no conscious or sub-conscious conception of these principles.  That's how they're going to be thrown out by the mob, just because of their ideological views and their incorrectly perceived self-interests.  They just know the brutal, the club.  They seem to neither know or understand anything about the energy dynamic that's at stake between the two "sides".

Incredible that so many people could rise without knowing or understanding or comprehending or even wishing to know, comprehend and understand these things.

Silly people.

Think about it.

Despite the advent of wearable technologies, the thought of humans becoming part machine remains in the realm of science fiction. But we might be farther along in this process than you’d expect, especially after digging deeper into the concept that many are calling “Augmented Sensory Perception,” where technology is not just biometrically attuned to humans but also embedded in their bodies.

Since the 1980s, Steven Mann, often referred to as the father of wearable computing, has been tinkering with the concept of cyborgs and the idea of “humanistic intelligence.” The theory goes that by including humans in the feedback loop of the computational process, the technology and the individual become inextricably intertwined.  You can see this idea emerging at the fringes of wearable technology, where developers are viewing the limits of human ability as a starting place. This is entry point could lead to devices that extend our own physical capacities.
