TURKEY NEWS, WORLD NEWS
Center for Accessible Living NKY's insight:

"Hearing impaired believers who complete the first Turkish Qur’an course for the hearing impaired will perform an anasheed (an Islamic spiritual song) and prayers in sign language in honor of the week of Prophet Muhammad’s birth.

The Mufti of the city of Buca, Adem Gulmek, stated that disabled and hearing impaired people will take part in the celebration program to be held on April 16 in honor of the week of Prophet Muhammad’s birth.

Indicating that most course attendees read the entire Qur’an in its original text, Gulmek said, “There is a tradition of Qur’an courses in Anatolia. We also wanted to prepare a prayer program for our hearing-impaired brothers during the Prophet’s birth week.”

NECN.com is the website of New England Cable News, the nations largest regional cable news channel
Center for Accessible Living NKY's insight:

"NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — When one of Cary Supalo's students says a chemistry problem is too difficult, he has a standard reply that usually stops them cold.

"My being the blind guy," he tells them, "if I can do that, you can do it, too."

Supalo is an assistant professor at Illinois State University who has an Indiana-based business that sells adaptive equipment for the blind or visually impaired.

While in Pennsylvania, he served on the Governor's Advisory Committee for the Blind. He recently was appointed to the Normal Human Relations Commission.

"I believe in a can-do attitude," said Supalo, who lost his sight at age 7 to a rare genetic condition called FEVR, Familial Exudative Vitreo-Retinopathy.

The Bolingbrook native started his job at ISU last semester. His courses include general chemistry and a general principles class. He also is a lab instructor and works with student teachers."

Megyn Kelly And Fox News Sued For Defamation Of Disabled Firefighter
News Hounds
Megyn Kelly's sneering and jeering about a disabled Milwaukee, Wisconsin firefighter who runs marathons has gotten her and her network in a wee bit of trouble.
Center for Accessible Living NKY's insight:

Bullies are always attempting to find individuals or groups to use as punching bags or scape-goats.  Last year it was the unemployed.  This year, apparently, it's the disabled.

What these bullies don't seem to understand is, the disabled, in general, deal with tougher things than bullies before breakfast.

And this particular individual is a first responder, a fight-fighter.  They willingly face death every hour, every day.

Bullies, as a rule, are cowards who attack those they perceive as weak.  This one, in particular, is ignorant of the fact that being disabled means differently abled, not totally unable.

She is about to be seriously schooled.

A really powerful video is priceless and so is a really powerful organization and mission.

Via Special & Determined | A Special Needs Mom Blog
Center for Accessible Living NKY's insight:

"Founded by two local entrepreneurs/parents of a disabled child, Steve English and Kate Driscoll, Changing the Face of Beauty is a campaign “To integrate individuals with disabilities into general advertising.” Both actively involved in the disabled community, English and Driscoll couldn’t help but notice the glaring lack of representation of disabled children and adults in the media, particularly in advertising. By combining their passion, business skills and Driscoll’s photography talent, they aim to change that imbalance once and for all."
