Useful guide to games that could be used in teaching. Searching limited to one category at a time though so not easy to refine the search. Very US orientated and aimed  mostly at school pupils rather than students or adults. Good for getting overview of various games and possible uses.

Keeping it simple -- without making “it” seemed dumbed down -- is the key to a user friendly website. Here, at last, is the psychology behind the strategy of being the same (predictable/comfortable), yet different (memorable).

Learning to Code Becomes Learning to Learn - Edutopia

Learning to Code Becomes Learning to Learn - Edutopia | Differentiated and ict Instruction | Scoop.it
Until recently, I was like Jane, but with technology. I used tech tools all day with little knowledge of their workings. And, despite my interactions with Jane, I had a typical fixed-mindset explanation for this: "I'm an English teacher. My brain doesn't work that way." What I was really saying was, "I forget how to be a beginner."

A year ago, though, I became a beginner, an apprentice, a struggling learner. I decided to learn how to code.

Immediately, the experience became less about designing websites and more about experiencing the growth mindset, improving confidence with technology, and learning that failure is part of the process.

Spell Up. Speak to play and build up your English. | Differentiated and ict Instruction | Scoop.it

This is a great new game from Google which helps students develop their vocabulary through spelling and pronunciation. Using Chrome, students can actually speak to the computer and listen to the pronunciation of the words as they build a word tower. They can even listen to a speaking dictionary telling them what the words mean. This should get your students working autonomously to develop their own vocabulary and if they sign in they can track and share their results.
