"[Design Kompany] got a solicitation to apply to work with the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Design Kompany was too small for the job the bureau had in mind, Morita said, but the invitation started him thinking about how he would go about “branding” a community.
“I have a small problem with the way they try and promote a city and community with that same mindset that is used to promote a detergent,” he said.
“Even with detergent and deodorant, things are changing and you don’t just come up with a clever tag line or slogan and blast it out,” Morita said. “It’s about one-to-one relationships.” Delete the scoop?

Too many people shout about "what creativity is." They don't know. This guy knows. Among other things, he said this: "The creations involve a period of conscious work, followed by a period of unconscious work."
You have to let things steep for a while, if you overthink/overwork/overdo it, you lose the thread. The one that's tenuous, but that's perfect exactly because it is. You don't want to beat an idea to pieces, in the same way you don't want to get "monstrously overspecialized," as Robert Persig says in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which I'm 3/4 through and had to just put down so I could Google "poincare fuschian equations."
