NYC private K-5 school librarians used circulation statistics, student suggestions (survey and classification work) to generate new organizational structure for their library - they call it METIS

Great first step questioning!  Why spend time teaching a code (Dewey) for finding library materials when organizing materials by patron-friendly categories saves time in searching and teaching?

I'm obviously intrigued by the idea of ditching Dewey but at the same time overwhelmed by the idea of reorganizing.  I like Tamara's suggestion to start with signage and think I can do this as a first step this week.
